But as these things do, An- drew fell ill several months ago and in the early hours of Dec. 23,2000, Andrew passed away and went to heaven to be with his beloved wife Nina and the Lord.

Memorial services were held Dec. 28, 2000 at Valley Mortu- ary in Lake Isabella, for An- drew Luis Lopez, with Pastor Ed Nuenshwaner (retired) of the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella presiding. Andrew is missed by all his loving family and friends.
Andrew is survived by nine children, 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his wife of 54 years of mar- riage, Nina Lopez, in 1987.

Paul James Beeman
Paul James Beeman, 48, of Troutdale, Va., died Dec. 11, 2000 from injuries received in an automobile accident near Sugar Grove, Va.
Paul was born Feb. 7, 1952, in Welch, W. Va., to Paul Huey and Effie Coffey Beeman. He was preceded in death by his son, Philip Martin Beeman.
Surviving are his wife, Annette Faust Beeman of Lake Isabella; daughter LeAnn Beeman Harris, Troutdale; sons Clayton Daniel Beeman of Troutdale and Paul James Beeman, Jr. of Sugar Grove; his mother, Effie Adalaide Beeman, Dahlgren, Va .; broth- ers Johnny Preston Beeman, Galax, Va. and Michael Tho- mas Beeman, Manassas; eight sisters, Gloria Mayhew, Shirlay Scott, both of Dahlgren, Joyce Hodges, of Virginia Beach, Va., Paula Beaver of Alexandria, Va., Linda Mullins of Atlanta, Judy Sayers of Richmond, Va., Stella Carter of Springfield, Va., and Teresa Beeman of McLean, Va .; four grandchil- dren; four step-grandchildren ; and several nieces and neph- ews. ·
Funeral services were held on Dec. 15, 2000 in Reins- Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence, Va. with the Rev. Kevin Welch and the Rev. Tim Boyette officiat- ing. Interment was in Moun- tain View Cemetery in Wytheville, Va.

Philip Martin Beeman
Philip Martin Beeman, 12, of Troutdale, Va., died Dec. 11, 2000 from injuries received in an automobile accident near Sugar Grove, Va.
Philip was born Jan. 2, 1988 in Galax, Va. to Paul and Bonnie Lynn McCarter Beeman. He was a seventh grade student at Indepen- dence Middle School in Inde- pendence, Va.
Surviving are his mother, Bonita Lynn Beeman of Marion, Va .; stepmom Annette L. Beeman of Lake Isabella; two sisters, LeAnn Beeman Harris of Troutdale and Des- tiny Nicole Beeman of Marion, Va .; three brothers, Gregory Alan McGuire of Marion, Clayton Daniel Beeman of Troutdale and Paul James Beeman, Jr. of Sugar Grove; maternal grandmother and step-grandpa, Betty and Scott Anderson of Sugar Grove; maternal granddad and step- granny, Donald and Rita McCarter; paternal grand- mother, Effie Adalaide Beeman of Dahlgren; and sev- eral aunts, uncles and cous- ins.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 15, 2000 in Reins- Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence, Va. with the Rev. Kevin Welch and the Rev. Tim Boyette officiat- ing. Interment was in Moun- tain View Cemetery in Wytheville, Va.

Cecil Ray Baker
Funeral services were held Jan. 5, 2001 at Valley Mortu- ary Chapel in Lake Isabella for Cecil Ray Baker. Officiating was Pastor Preston North of Mt. View Southern Baptist Church.
Cecil was born Dec: 3, 1914 in Indianola, Okla. He attended church in Indianola for half a year before he left to help his mother and grandparents on the farm. He met Vivian Baker and they were married on Nov. 2, 1935. They moved to Cali- fornia in 1937. Cecil worked on farms in California for sev- eral years before going to work at the Kern County Schools where he worked for 20 years before retiring.
Cecil enjoyed fishing, camp- ing and seeing the world. In his last years he was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had many friends and enjoyed 65 wonderful years and fel- lowship with his wife, Vivian.
He is survived by Vivian; son Donald Ray Baker, son-in-law Kurt Bartell; daughter-in-law Ruth Baker; sister Lois Sitterfield; sister-in-law Ozella Bell; niece Nancy Bell; niece Susan Spencer; nephew David Pillows; his wonderful grandchil- dren Terri Bartell, Timothy Baker, Glen Bartell, Scottie Bartell, Matthew Bartell and Kyle Bartell; and great-grandchildren Darrian Bartell, Artemio Bartell, Donovan · Bartell, Christopher Bartell, Elcas Bartell and Nicho- las Bartell.
Arrangements were handled by Valley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.
Bernard James (Bernie) Bulger
Bernard was born on March 28, 1918 to Joseph and Fro Lilla Bulger in Rumford, Maine. He entered eternal rest on Jan. 3,2001.
Bernard worked for Chrysler Corporation in Detroit for 11 years. He also worked a com- 'bined time of 25 years with the military and the government. Bernard entered the military in June 1942 and served in North Africa and Central Europe. He reached the rank of Sergeant and received the Purple Heart for wounds received in North Africa. He was honorably dis- charged in Sept. 1945.
He was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
One of his greatest loves was the area around the lake -- the mountains, the river and the lake. He spent many hours driv- ing in the area and enjoying the sites.

He was married to Agnes for 50 years, and she preceded him in death on July 29, 1996. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra McCarthy and her hus- band, John, of Oak Hill, Va .; one brother, Jasper; three sis- ters, Mary Van Nest and Emma Brennan of Ventura and Druscilla Breton of Rumford, Maine; three grandchildren, John Jr., Caryn and Michael; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Aidan, all of Vir- ginia.

Jeannie Eastridge
Memorial services will be held Jan. 17, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the VFW Post 7665 for Jeannie Eastridge. Officiating was Pas- tor Jeff McCulty and the La- dies Auxiliary.
Jeannie was born May 7, 1934 in Glenn County, Calif. and passed away on Jan. 10, 2001 in Mountain Mesa. Jeannie has been a resident of the Kem River Valley for the past 11 years. She was a life member of the VFW and a member of the Moose. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, fishing, traveling and camp- ing, but most of all, she en- joyed spending time with her grandchildren, and all of her many friends. She lived life to the fullest and was a caring, loving and helpful person.
She is survived by her con- stant companion George Hays of Bodfish; daughter Debbie Partridge of Lake Isabella; son Jerry Hess of Arizona; daugh- ter and son-in-law Tammie and Paul Hirth of Diamond Bar; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Lynn Richie of Reno; son Lonnie Richie of Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and two broth- ers, Rex Stewart and Fred Stewart of Missouri.

Wesley John Russ
Memorial services will be held Jan. 19, 2001 at noon at the VFW Post 7665 in Lake Isabella for Wesley John Russ. Wesley was born May 1, 1919 in North Bradley, Mich. and passed away on Jan. 11, 2001 in Delano. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Gilroy,

Calif. He met his wife, Anita, at a USO dance, and they were married Nov. 12, 1943 in Gilroy in a small service. They later lived in the Los Angeles area and had many businesses. Wesley spent most of his time auctioneering.
Wesley and'Anita moved to the Kern River Valley in 1974. His greatest service was here · in the Valley where he did a lot of volunteer work, with hospi- tal visits, driving vets to the VA hospital and other places. At the time of his passing he was DAV District Commander in charge of Central California.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anita Russ of Wofford Heights; daughter Darlene Meek of Bishop; son John Russ of Wofford Heights; daughter Ruby Matlock of Mesa, Ariz .; four grandchildren, Denise Jarick, Gina McCollough, Ali- cia Petty and Alex Matlock; and three great-grandchildren, Steven Jarick, Shandra and Logan McCollough.
He will be missed by so many.

Kathryn M. Ellis
Kathryn M. Ellis entered eternal life on Dec. 24, 2000 at her home in Riverbank, Calif. Services were held in the Rose Chapel of the Lake Isabella Funeral Home on Dec. 27, 2000, and interment followed at the Kem River Valley Cem- etery in Wofford Heights.
Kathryn was born on April 26, 1913 in Rockland, Pa. to Harry and Maude Walter.
Kathryn worked as a ship- ping clerk for the Roddy Manu- facturing Co., which made fish- ing poles. She came to Califor- nia in 1957. Kathryn made lots of trips to the Kern Valley on fishing and camping trips. She liked the area so well that she moved here in 1965. When Kathryn became ill, she moved north to Riverbank where she spent her remaining years at the home of Marilyn and Rich- ard Jones, under their care.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her sisters Guila A. Pursell and Hazel J. Perry and a brother, Rodney C. Walter. She is survived by daughter Dorothy L. Jones of Lake Isabella; daughter Audrey K. Jones of Lake Isabella; daugh- ter Marilyn J. Jones of Riverbank; sons Edward L. Ellis of Monroe, Utah, Gary E. Ellis of Cambridge Springs, Pa., and Richard W. Ellis and Kenneth D. Ellis of Lake Isabella; 29 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sis- ter Arlene G. Bastow of Manteca, Calif .; and a brother, Martin Thompson of Erie, Pa.
Kathryn was loved and will be greatly missed by all. who knew her.

Dorothy Frances Pursley
Memorial services for Dor- othy Pursley were held on Jan. 6, 2001 at the Eagles Lodge in Mt. Mesa. Pastor Bert Simpson of Mt. View Southern Baptist Church officiated.
Dorothy worked 36 years for the Owens Illinois Glass Com- pany as an inspector in the Los Angeles area. She was a resi- dent of Weldon since 1988.
Dorothy is survived by Billey Joe, her husband of 21 years; her daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Dennis Maness of So. San Francisco; sister Margie Paige of Klamath Falls, Ore .; aunt Freda Horn of Doris, Calif .; uncle Calvin Droege of Hemet, Calif .; uncle Leroy Droege of Minneapolis; four grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Val- ley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.
Estella Christina (Connie) Gadberry
Estella Christina (Connie) Gadberry was born on Oct. 21, 1916 to Alfred and Elise Donath. Estella came to California in 1931 and lived in Long Beach for several years. She later moved to Bakersfield in 1934.
Estella met and married Lee Gadberry in 1936. Estella worked at the Naval Training Center in San Diego, as a Civil- ian Applicant Tester. Together they moved to the lake area in 1975.
Estella entered into rest at Kern Valley Hospital on Dec. 30, 2000. She was a member of the Grandmothers Club, as well as the Rod and Gun Club in the lake area. She was an outgoing person and made friends of all who knew her.
She is survived by her hus- band, Lee Gadberry of Wofford Heights. She will be greatly missed by family and friends who loved her and knew her.

Edna Mae Horn
Edna Mae Horn was born on May 28, 1909 in Ben Lomond, Calif., and passed away on Dec. 24, 2000. She was 91 and lived in Kern County for 90 years.
Edna moved from Bodfish to Piute Mountain in 1950. She was a postmistress at Claraville on Piute Mountain, and also at Bodfish. She worked in post of- fices in Kemville and Miracle Hot Springs. She was owner and cook at the sawmill on Piute Mountain. She cooked 15 years at Miracle Hot Springs. She was head clerk of the election board 15 years in Bodfish and Kemville.
Edna was a charter mem- ber of the Kern River Valley Woman's Club. She was a member of the El Tejon Parlor of the Native Daughters of California since 1931. She was a member of TOPS for many years and held several offices. She was a member of Sarah Gooch Ceramics for many years. Edna was very talented and especially enjoyed crafts.'
Edna was married 40 years to Oakley R. Hom, and was widowed 23 years. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marjorie McCoy of Bakersfield and Frances Sceales of Geyserville, Calif .; and her parents, Ralph and Anna Hobson of Bakersfield.
She is survived by nieces MaryAnn Patterson of Anchor- age, Alaska and Lynn Taylor of Houston, Texas; nephews Dal- las Sceales of San Jose, Ralph Sceales of Geyserville, Calif. and Robert McCoy of LaCanada, Calif .; 14 grandnieces and neph- ews and many great-grand- nieces and nephews.
She was interred at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield. There was no service.

John Morton Koontz
Private, arrangements were made for John Koontz, who passed away Jan. 16, 2001 in Lake Isabella.
John was born on Jan. 28, 1913 in the Revenue Lease, Kern River Oil Fields, Bakersfield. He lived there with his parents until the age of 10, when they moved to Montebello. He resided there until 1975 at which time he retired from the Ford Motor Company's Refrigera- tion Dept. and moved to the Kern River Valley.
John was a past Gover- nor of the Moose Lodge in Lake Isabella and also a 50- year member. He was pre- ceded in death by his son, John Koontz in 1989, and is survived by his daughter-in- law Penny Koontz of Hun- tington Beach; grandson and wife Paul and Deborah Koontz of Riverside; grand- son and wife Robert and Kine Koontz of Aliso Viejo, Calif .; granddaughter and husband Jennifer and Jesse Crum of Sedona, Ariz .; and six great-grandchildren.
John was a great bingo player and loved to go to Las Vegas and gamble- poker was a favorite. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

David Eugene Stamm
Private funeral arrange- ments were made for David Eugene Stamm of Wofford Heights. Mr. Stamm was born on Feb. 26, 1922 in Minneapolis and passed away Jan. 16, 2001 at his residence in Wofford Heights.
Mr. Stamm worked for Southern California Edison for 31 years before retiring and moved to the Kern Val- ley in 1985. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and Shriner out of Garden Grove. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and woodwork- ing. He was a very loving husband, father and grand- father.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Nancy Stamm of Wofford Heights; daughter Sandy Andres of Porterville; daugh- ter Evelyn Coil of Lake Isabella; Annet Saul of Wofford Heights; Theresa Saul of Phalan and son and daughter-in-law Lee and Tammy Saul of Phalan and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Kenneth Paul Reimer Sr.
Private arrangements were made for Kenneth Reimer Sr. Kenneth was born on July 10, 1927 in North Hampton, Pa. and passed away on Jan. 15, 2001 in Lake Isabella. He had moved to the Valley in 1981 after . retiring from the city of Tor- rance Water Dept. where he had worked for 20 years.
Kenneth enjoyed hunting and fishing and gardening. He was a World War II vet- eran, serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees. He took part in the Pacific campaign.
He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Doris Reimer of Bodfish; son Kenneth Reimer Jr. of Bodfish; son and daughter-in-law David and Claudia Reimer of Bakersfield; daughter and son-in-law Georgiann and Greg Smith of Oakhurst, Calif .; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Charles, Betty and Helen, all of Pennsylvania.
Kenneth was a very lov- ing and wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all his fam- ily and friends.

Roman Albert Krusiewicz
Roman A. Krusiewicz was born in Poland on Aug. 9, 1937. He entered eternal rest on Jan. 13, 2001 at Kern Valley Hospital in Mountain Mesa.
Roman was a painter by trade here in the Valley. He became an American citizen on Aug. 26, 1955 in Junction City, Kan. In his lifetime he was a soldier in the U.S .. Army and served in Korea. Roman belonged to the D.A.V. of the Kern River Valley and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 7665 in Lake Isabella. Roman rose to the rank of com- mander in the D.A.V. He was active in helping those who were in need to be trans- ported to Bakersfield for treatment.
Roman was a resident of Wofford Heights and was well known in the Valley. He had two sons, Henry and Michael, and three daugh- ters, Elizabeth, Monica and Therisa.
Roman will receive a full military burial with honors at the San Joaquin Valley Na- tional Cemetery in Gustine, Calif.
Services were by the Bonewell Family of the Lake · Isabella Funeral Home, with a lot of support from Kern Valley friends.

Doris Allene Pruett
Doris Allene Pruett was born Sept. 17, 1917 to Ernest and Juanita Pritchard in But -. ler, Mo., and entered eternal rest on Jan. 23, 2001.
A longtime resident of the Kern River Valley, Doris moved from Compton to Johnsondale in the early 1940s, where she cooked for the loggers. Her husband, Ri- val Bishop, also worked in the logging operation. Sev- eral years later, they moved to the South Fork and built Bishop's Cafe and gasoline station in Bishopdale, just west of the Cane Brake Inn. When the restaurant burned, the couple rebuilt it. She was widowed in 1951, and later married Robert Pruett, an early homesteader in the Chimney Peak area, and head of the highway mainte- nance crew, through the South Fork to Highway 14. The couple built and lived in several homes in the Valley. When Robert suffered a stroke and was confined to a wheelchair, Doris cared for him for over 10 years until his death in 1999.
Never one to sit back when something needed to be done, Doris was an early member of the South Fork School Board, and was in- strumental in keeping the school open when attempts were made to close it. She also helped to establish the mosquito abatement district, many flood control projects and Neighborhood Watch.
In the early 1950s, her ef- forts helped people in the South Fork/Cane Brake area get telephone service. She was also chairman of the elec- tion board in Onyx for many years. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, cards and her many friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Nina and her hus- band William Sharp of Pleasanton; granddaugh- ters Deana Sharp of Oregon, Jeanie Sharp of Pleasanton and Mikey Habbestad and her husband, Mark, of Val- ley Springs; sister Jo Merry and her husband Loyd of Lake Isabella; brother Cliff Pritchard and his wife, Betty, of Arizona; many nieces, nephews and other rela- tives.
She is preceded in death by husbands Rival Bishop and Robert Pruett; her son, Jay Bishop; sisters Ramona Rogers and Martha Wokal (all longtime residents of the Kern River Valley); and her brother, Robert Pritchard.
Services were held Jan. 25, 2001, at the Lake Isabella Funeral Home. Interment fol- lowed at Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights.

Leon L. Rondeau
Private arrangements were made for Leon "Springmaker" Rondeau, who passed away Dec. 31, 2000 as a result of an auto vs. pedestrian accident in Adelanto, Calif.
Leon was born Sept. 12, 1918 in Willamatic, N.H., one of 17 children.
Leon moved to California in the 1950s, where he worked for Associated Spring Co. of Gardena- thus the C.B. handle "Springmaker."
He moved to the Kern River Valley in the early 1970s, where he was employed for a while with Starr Drilling.
He then retired to fish, camp, more fishing, travel and make more friends.
He resided in Salome, Ariz. for the last 20 years.
He leaves behind his daughter, Rita Holte and son- in-law Bill of Bodfish; daugh- ter Candy Wade and son-in- law Darvin of Salome; daugh- ter Pauline Macleod of Utah; son Fred Rondeau and daughter-in-law Darlene of Hawthorne; son Leon "Bulch" Rondeau Jr. of Torrance; his wonderful friend Carol of Salome; seven grandchil- dren, five great-grandchil- dren, five sisters and two brothers, and many, many friends.
Leon was a loving father and will be greatly missed by us all.

Ardath Lois Cochran
Ardath Lois Cochran was born to Arthur and Nadine McCoy on June 17, 1917 in Coalinga, Calif. She passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2001 at the age of 83 in Moun- tain Mesa.
Ardath, along with her hus- band of 64 years, Harry, re- sided in Wofford Heights for the past 21 years.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Harry; son Gary Cochran of Apple Val- ley; and two daughters, Jeanette Nuttall of Cathedral City, Calif. and Deborah Zilliott of Laguna Beach. She was a loving grandmother to Tony, Jeff, Jim, Curt, Laura, Tom, Andrew, Erin and Zachary, and a great-grand- mother of six.
Graveside services were held on Jan. 30, 2001 at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights with Pas- tor Jack Dilley presiding.
Services were entrusted to the Bonewell Family of the Lake Isabella Funeral Home.
David Eugene Stamm
Private funeral arrange- ments were made for David Eugene Stamm of Wofford Heights. Mr. Stamm was born on Feb. 26, 1922 in Minne- apolis and passed away Jan. 16, 2001 at his residence in Wofford Heights.

Mac was born on April 16, 1913 in Tulsa, Okla. and moved to Southern Califor- nia and became a building contractor for many years. He built homes for a lot of stars in the Los Angeles area.
He moved to Oregon after retiring and then moved to Onyx in the Kern River Val- ley 13 years ago. He used to come here in his younger years hunting and fishing with Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. He enjoyed fishing for Golden Trout and also hunting.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald and Robert McDaniel, grandson Skot McDaniel and his beloved dog, Taco.
Arrangements were made by Valley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.

David Consoli
Arrangements were made in Manteca, Calif. for David Consoli, 53, who passed away in Davis, Calif. on Jan. 23, 2001 of natural causes.
David Consoli was born in Stockton on Dec. 7, 1949. He lived in San Jacinto, Calif. for 4-1/2 years and in Wofford Heights for 23 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
David was a wildlife biolo- gist with the state of Califor- nia. He was fortunate to live his lifelong dream working with and preserving wildlife. His self-chosen career to him was like being on an every- day vacation. We have a life- time of memories of David that will last forever.
David is survived by his com- panion, Marian Hartman; his mother, Pauline Consoli of Manteca; daughter Elizabeth Rae Consoli of Sun Valley, Nev .; stepchildren Brian M. Hartman of Mountain Mesa, David R. Hartman of Tehachapi, DiAnn L. Hartman of Wofford Heights and Fred Clifton of Wofford Heights; nine grandchildren, one great- grandchild; brother Tom Consoli of Brazil and sister Carolee Barritt of Byron, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Consoli. There will be a celebration of David's life on Feb. 3, 2001 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 4512 Juni- per Lane, Mountain Mesa.

Eual "Red" Williams
Eual "Red" Williams, former 20-year resident of Lake Isabella, died Jan. 14, 2001 in San Diego, where he resided for the past year and a half.
Red was born in Texas in 1912. He moved to San Di- ego in 1940. He went to work for Griffith Construction Co. within two weeks after arriv- ing in San Diego. He worked for Griffith until he retired in 1970.
He married Emma Lou Fench Williams in 1931. She passed away in July 1965.
Emma Lou and Red had two daughters, Peggy and June. Peggy passed away in 1965.
Red is survived by his daughter, June; six grand- children and nine great- grandchildren.
