Memorial services were held Sunday, September 10, 1995, at2:00p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Lake Isabella for Louis Henry Lease. Mr. Lease was born August 7, 1929 in Saranac Lake, New York, and passed away September 5, 1995, in Mt. Mesa, California.
He has been a resident of Wofford Heights for four years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and was very active in the senior dances and he and his wife took line dance classes.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Marilyn of Wofford Heights; his sons Dean Lease of Lakewood, California; son Barry Lease of Lake Tahoe; son ' Scott Lease of Wofford Heights; son Dana Lease of Carson City and daughter Laurie Lease of Wofford Heights and eight grandchildren and his mother Mabel Lease of Wofford Heights.

Arthur Thomas Martin
Funeral services were held in the Rose Chapel of the Lake Isabella Funeral Home on Fri- day, September 8, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. for Arthur Thomas Martin, age 34. Pastor Deryl Lackey of the Lake Isabella Southern Baptist Church offi- ciated. Committal services and interment followed at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wof- ford Heights. Casketbearers were his three brothers Charles Martin Jr., Jeffrey Martin, and Bradford Martin and friends Jerry Allen, J.R. Hansard, and Wade Michau. Arthur passed away in Silver Springs, Nevada on Saturday, September 2, 1995.
He was born in Grand Rap- ids, Michigan on November 11, 1960. While still an infant, he moved with his family to the Sunland, Tujunga area where he resided until coming to the lake area in 1969, where he has resided since. He was self- employed doing mobilehome set-up and installations.
Arthur is survived by his parents Charles .J. Martin Sr. and Ethel Rosalie Martin of Lake Isabella; two sons Jacob Mar- tin of Southlake and James Martin of Quincy, Washington; two daughters Charlene Martin of Quincy, Washington and Cheryl Martin of Southlake; three brothers Charles J. Mar- tin Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jeffrey Martin of Bensalem, Pennsylvania; and Bradford Martin of Nashville, Tennessee; six sisters Jackie SanDiego of Tehachapi; Deborah Baker of Ridgecrest; Pamela Allen of Ridgecrest; Catherine Smith of Ridgecrest; Tammie Lathrop of Tehachapi; and Patty Burke of Ridgecrest. He is also survived by numer- ous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Alonzo Lee Dixon
Memorial services were held at the Eagles Aerie #3156 in Mt. Mesa on Saturday, Sep- tember 9, 1995, at 1:00 p.m. for Alonzo Lee Dixon Jr., age 82. Officiating were the officer and members of Eagles Aerie
#3156, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #498, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7665. Committal services and inter- ment were held at Forest Lawn Sunnyside in Long Beach on Tuesday, September 12, 1995, at 2:00 p.m. He passed away at his Lake Isabella residence on Monday moming September 4, 1995.
Mr. Dixon was bom in Butler, Missouri, on July 7, 1913. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Sec- ond World War and again served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Dixon was a retired inspector for General Motors from which he retired after 32 years of service. He had resided in Lake Isabella since 1980. Mr. Dixon was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, and the Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by his wife Jeannie Dixon of Lake Isabella; one son Steven Dixon of Westminster; three grandchil- dren and by many friends.

Kurtis James Garrido
Services were held today at the Foursquare Gospel Family Life Center in Wofford Heights for Kurtis James Garrido, age 1 year, 11 months, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Polston offi- ciating.
His short life came to an end early in the afternoon, Tues- day, September 12, 1995. His grandmother, Sharon Thomp- son, saw a runaway truck heading towards Kurtis. She made an attempt to rescue him, but was unsuccessful. In her attempt to rescue him, she too was run over by the unoccupied pickup, and remains in a Bakersfield hospital with a fractured back. Her motherly love forced her to endanger her own life in an attempt to save his.
Kurtis is survived by his lov- ing parents, Jason and Tiffany Garrido, of Kemville. His ma- ternal grandparents Jeff and Sharon Thompson of Lake Isabella; patemal grandparents · George and Janet Kellogg of South Lake Tahoe, California; also several aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him.
Kurtis was born on October 4, 1993, in Layton, Utah and would have been 2 years old his next birthday.

Dawn Beam
A memorial service for Dawn Beam will be held at 1 p.m. on · Wednesday. September 20.
Dawn passed away at her home on September 16.
Bom in 1941 in Ormstown, Quebec, Canada, Dawn came to the Kern Valley in 1965.
She was employed as a su- pervisory district clerk in the business management section of the U.S. Forest Service's Cannell Meadow District Office for 22 years and retired this March.
During her tenure at the Forest Service, Dawn received several awards for her excep- tional service and will be fondly remembered for her cheery personality and ability to keep everyone laughing.
Dawn was also known for keeping a gallery over her desk of all the children born to Forest Service employees over the vears.
She leaves to mourn :her - mother, Margaret Friedmann of Kemville, her beloved hus- band Denton, her three chil- dren, Dorelle Wallace of Lk. Isabella, Michael Robidoux and wife Coleen of Bakersfield, Monique Alvidrez and husband Gary of Kernville, one grand- child, Shae Wallace of Lk. Isa- bella, two brothers Arthur Hunter of Ottawa, Canada, and Kirk Hunter, of Ontario, Canada. Numerous other relatives and all of her many friends will deeply miss Dawn.
Interment will be at the Kem River Valley Cemetery in Wof- ford Heights.
William Herman Russell
A memorial service was held Thursday, September 14, 1995, at 9:00 a.m. at Kem River Valley Cemetery for William Herman Russell. Eulogy was given by Bob Salyer.
Mr. Russell was born April 20, 1915 in Pomona, California, and passed away in Wofford Heights on September9, 1995. ·He was a resident of Wofford Heights for 18 years.
He was a retired Pipe Fitter and WWII Veteran. William was known very well at the Kernville Golf Course. He was past president and Corporation Di- rector of the golf course.
William is survived by his wife of 43 years Frances and two sisters-in-law, Fern Allen of Torrance, California, and Faith Gold of Placentia, Cali- fornia. He will be missed by all his friends and family.

Sharon Kay Castle
Services for Sharon Kay Castle, age 59, were held on Tuesday, September 19, 1995, at the Eagles Lodge #3156 in Mt. Mesa at 2:00 p.m. with the Eagles officiating.
Sharon was bom in Detroit, Michigan, on August 8, 1936 and entered into rest early in the morning on September 15, 1995, at San Joaquin Hospital in Bakersfield, California.
She left Detroit and came to California in 1959, settling first in Canoga Park, then in Covina and finally in 1975, she moved to the lake area.
She is survived by her son Bryan Boggs and daughter Cheryl Bonner, both of the Lake Isabella area.
Sharon belonged to the V.F.W., and was Past Madam President of the Eagles Lodge and also a member of the drill team which is an extension of the Eagles.

Elinor Lovell Hammond
Funeral arrangements were made for Elinor Lovell Hammond who passed away September 23, 1995, in Mt. Mesa, California. Mrs. Hammond was born January 25, 1897 in Mayville, New York to Guy and Vesta Mills. Her brother was Leslie Mills and sister Isabell Hatsell. She has been a resident of Mt. Mesa for three years.
There will be graveside ser- vices on October 14, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, New York.
She was preceded in death by her son Theadore Baker in 1993. She is survived by her son Roger Baker of Port Charlott, Florida and daughters Roberta Angel of Bodfish and Mary Trenper of Talent, Or- egon; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Private arrangements were made for Glen Brant Woodard, who passed away September 18, 1995, in Mt. Mesa. Mr. Woodard was born May · 4. 1918, in Torrance, California, and has lived 52 years in Kem County, the past eight years in Lake Isabella. He loved fishing here.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Louise Woodard of Lake Isabella; sons Robert Lee Woodard of Bakersfield and Frank Louis Woodard of Sac- ramento; daughters Leta Mae Cox and Glenda Carter, both of Salem, Oregon and 13 grand- children and many great- grandchildren; also sisters Elizabeth Havens of Bakers- field, Betty Snapp of Bakers- field, Mary Cannifax of Texas and Hazel Tackett of King City, California and many nieces and nephews.

Donald R. Grenier
Donald R. Grenier passed away at his residence in Bodfish early in the morning of Monday, September 18, 1995. Private inumment was held with inter- ment to follow at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
Don was bom March 6, 1928, in Huntington, Massachusetts. He worked for the forest service in Massachusetts for 25 years coming to California in 1975, and to the lake area in 1987.
He and his wife Helen were married in 1978. Don was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Dis- abled American Veterans.
Don was an excellent fly fisherman having won several awards in Massachusetts for his prowess. He had a hobby of making farm implements, wagons, horses, etc. from toothpicks and popsicle sticks.
`He leaves his wife Helen of Bodfish; two stepchildren Robert Bratkovic of Ballwin, Missouri and Carol A. Dicks of Augusta, Georgia; one sister Arlene Ahlfors of Prescott Val- ley, Arizona; three grandchil- dren and many friends.

Ethor William (Bill) Singleton
Bill Singleton passed away in Delano early in the afternoon of September 28, 1995. Bill was born to Theopolis and Mary Singleton in Blacksprings, Ar- kansas, on August 2, 1922. He spent his early life there, but moved to Whitesboro, Okla- homa, where he attended grade and high school.
After graduation from high school, Bill joined the Air Force and served during World War II as a Captain. After his service time Bill moved to Van Nuys, California. Then he moved and lived in Wasco, California for a short time. He came to the lake area 40 years ago. While here he developed the Starr Drilling and Pump Company in Lake Isabella. Bill then became owner and operator of the Bodfish Water Company and remained so for 15 years. He sold the water company in 1992 at which time he retired.
Services were at the Church of the Nazarene at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October3, 1995, with Pastor Jack Duitsman officiat- ing. Burial followed at Kern River Valley Cemetery.
Bill loved fishing and camp- ing. He especially loved being a cattleman and horseman. He also loved to play dominos, especially when he won. He was a big framed man and it was said this was necessary to house the big heart that he had. He was a loving and kind father. He loved to help in community projects. He was responsible for the score board and announcer's booth at Kern Valley High School. He was a great booster of the Bronc's and Kern Valley F.F.A.
Bill is survived by his wife Diane of Bodfish; two sons, Leon of Visalia and Tony of Las Vegas; two daughters, Patricia Payne of Quitman, Texas, and Cynthia Barron of Lake Isabella; two brothers, Archie of Morenc Valley, California, and Ocus o
Davis, California; one sister, Wilma Guthrie of Davis, Cali- fornia; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Geraldine Edith Metten
Geraldine Edith Metten, known as Jeirie to her family and friends, passed away on September 12, 1995 at Kern Valley Emergency Hospital, of cancer.
She was born on December 12, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Kathryn and Kyle C. Miller. She was married to Donald C. Metten on July 19, 1955 in Hollywood, California.
She is survived by her hus- band, Donald Metten of Lake Isabella; two sisters, June Clifford and Patricia Mazolla of Burbank; and a brother Donald Miller of San Francisco.
Jeirie was a retired supervi- sor for the Pacific Bell Tele- phone Company, where she had been employed for over 30 years.
Thomas Joseph Whyte
Thomas Joseph Whyte passed away in Lancaster, California at 7:30 a.m. on September 25. For the past month, he was living at the Lancaster Health Care Center to be near his son Ted.
Private inurnment was held with interment to follow at Inglewood Memorial Park in Inglewood, California.
Thomas was born Septem- ber 15, 1921 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to William and
Mary Whyte. Tom came to Salinas, California, in 1963 where he remained until 1965 at which time he moved to the Los Angeles area. In 1985 he made his home in the lake area. Tom married his wife Mary af- ter coming to California. She preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Kernville Historical Society. He also served his country in the Army during World War II as an E-5.
He is survived by three sons: Theodore Whyte of Lancaster, California; Leonard Whyte of Covina, California; Thomas Whyte of Memphis, Tennessee; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Vivian Elizabeth (Harrison) Wayne
Private service was held for Vivan E. Wayne, aged 74. Vivian was born to Andrew and Ivy Harrison on April 8, 1921, in Shinnston, West Virginia. She passed away Thursday morn- ing, September 21, 1995, after a lengthy illness at her home with her family in Wofford Heights.
Vivian moved to the Kern River Valley with her husband Mel and son Michael from Mar Vista, California, in 1973. She was employed as the store
manager at Helen's Gift Shop in Wofford Heights and later joined Radio Station KVLI as their first radio announcer and was KVLI's first "Swap Shop Show" hostess. She had also worked at radio stations in West Virginia, Virginia, Illinois and California. Vivian met her hus- band Mel in 1950 at WRST Radio in Chicago. They were married in Paris, Illinois, No- vember 18, 1951.
Vivian was a member of the Genealogical Society of Lake Isabella and a member of WHIGs. She was a past officer of the Emblem Club 154 of Elks Lodge 906 in Santa Monica,
and LOE - KRV Elks Lodge 2358.
She is survived by her hus- band Mel and son Michael of Wofford Heights and daughters Jean McHugh of Prescott, Ari- zona, and Carolyn Day of Cadillac, Michigan; and Michele Earley of Aliso Viejo, California; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Vivian is also survived by her brothers Bob and Richard Harrison and families of Shinnston, West Virginia, along with many, many friends.

Edward D. Norris
Graveside funeral services and interment were held on Tuesday, October 10, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. in the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights for 42-year lake area resident, Edward D. Norris, age 81. He passed away at his residence in Bodfish on Thursday evening, October 5, 1995.
Edward was born in Boone, lowa, on July 22, 1914. He met and married Elizabeth Fenner in Sturgess, South Dakota in 1940. Many will remember her as the Postmaster of Bodfish when the post office classifica- tion was changed from fourth class to third class. In honor of her, the Elizabeth Norris Road was named. It is the road be- tween the two parks in Lake Isabella, and serves as an on- ramp to Highway 178.
Edward loved to hunt, fish and garden. He had a great degree on proudness when he would pick a carrot from his garden even though it may have cost him ten dollars to raise it. He drove a school bus for 23 years for the Kernville Union School District.
He is survived by one son and his wife Eddie and Dee Norris of Norris Sign Company of Bodfish; three grandchildren Carrie Lee Hunt and Stacie Lorrain Bohn of Lake Isabella and Justin Edward Norris of Bodfish; three great-grand- children Kaila Lin Hunt, Nathan Lloyd Hunt and Morgan Lee Hunt, all of Lake Isabella and · by many loving friends who will greatly miss him.

William David Mershon
Graveside services were held on Thursday, October 5, 1995, at 1 p.m. at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wof- ford Heights, for Mr. William David Mershon. Officiating were the officers of the Kern River Valley Moose Lodge #498.
Mr. Mershon is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Pauline E. Mershon; son Dave Mershon of Bodfish; sister Harriet Hunter of Portsmouth, Ohio; brother Dan Mershon of Salt Springs, Florida.
William was born February 28, 1915, and passed away on September 30, 1995, at his home in Bodfish, California.
He was a member of the - F.O.E. #935 of Redondo Beach, California, as well as F.O.E. #3156 of Mt. Mesa. He was also a member the Elks in Wofford Heights and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #498 in Lake Isabella.
William Mershon will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Vera Melgosa
Memorial services were held Wednesday, October 4, 1995, at 11:30 at Valley Mortuary Chapel for Vera Melgosa. Of- ficiating was Rev. Father Charles Cadale of St. Jude's Catholic Church.
She was bom November 28, 1911 in Mexico and passed away October 2, 1995 in Mt. Mesa. She has been a resident of the Kern River Valley for 23 years. She enjoyed her family, her cactus garden and her Desert Tortoises.
Vera is survived by her · husband of 63 years, Alfonso Melgosa of Weldon; her son Robert Melgosa of California; and three daughters, Lola Bonfield of Carson; Virginia Harmening of Bakersfield; Gloria Campbell of El Toro,
California; two sisters Ann Wyatt of Bend, Oregon and Jennie Espinoza of Hot Springs, South Dakota; nine grandchil- dren and twelve great-grand- children.

Ryan Emery Loren Young "Burke"
Services were held for Ryan Young at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 1995, at the Mt. View Baptist Church, with Senior Pastor Daryl Lackey officiating along with Associate Pastor Bert Simpson and Youth Pastor Jeff McCulty. Ryan was involved in an auto accident the day following his 18th birthday, on September 28th, and never regained conciousness. He en- tered into rest in Bakersfield on October 6, 1995.
He was born in Westminster, California, on September 27, 1977. He lived his early life in Long Beach, moved to Ontario when he was 1-1/2 years old. Then at age five, he moved to Bloomington, then to San Ber- nardino. At 12, he moved to Phelan, where he lived for two years before moving to the lake area in 1991. Ryan was bap- tized at the age of one as a Catholic. He made a commit- ment to the Lord and was bap- tized in a Baptist Church on September 15, 1989, while visit- ing in Georgia.
Ryan was a senior at Kern Valley High School where he was a member of the wrestling team. He also sang in the choir. He was a member of the FFA for two years. Ryan loved fishing, . and was an avid swimmer. He also enjoyed dirt bike riding, as well as biking in general. He was very athletic and loved skiing and snow boarding. He also liked to go horse back riding and es- pecially loved his animals at home. Ryan worked as a handyman and repair service.
He is survived by his mother Sherry Burke; grandparents Joe and Doralee Parkerson, of Georgia, and Wilmerith Chris- tian; great-grandmother Una Butler; four brothers William Young of Seattle, Washington; Brad Burke of Houston, Texas; Howard Burke of Columbus, Georgia; and Brian Burke of Houston, Pennsylvania; six sis-
ters Emma Young of Macon, Georgia; Lillian Burke of Wof- ford Heights; Cindy and Charlene Burke, both of Houston, Penn- sylvania; and Kathy and Tia Burke of Houston, Texas. Also surviving Ryan are several aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Rose Chapel of the Lake Isabella Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 4, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. for Weldon resident Walter Stille, age 53. Committal services and interment followed in the Kern River Valley Cem- etery in Wofford Heights.
Walter passed away at his residence on Sunday morning, October 1, 1995. He was born in Grand Haven, Michigan, on December 22, 1941. He spent his early years and received his education in Michigan and at the age of 23 came to California, first settling in Torrance and then moving to Long Beach in 1980. Walter had lived in the lake area for the past seven years. Walter was a loving husband and father and enjoyed the out of doors and working in his garden.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Weldon; sons Allen Stille of Fruitport, Michigan; Donald Stille serving in the U.S. Navy; John Reyes and Manuel Reyes of Yucca Valley; daughters Susette Russel of Harbor City, California
and Wendy Reyes of Lake Havasu, Arizona; three brothers Jim of Weldon; Steve of Reno, Nevada; and Rich of Michigan; two sisters Marlene Hampton of Dayton, Ohio, and Janet Stille of Ridgecrest; six grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
The services were entrusted to the care of the Bonnewell family of the Lake Isabella Fu- neral Home.
Lloyd LeEarl Adams
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 11, 1995, at 11:30 a.m. at the Family Life Center in Wofford Heights for Lloyd L. Adams. Officiating was Pastor Brian Polston.
Mr. Adams was born April 21, 1918 in Lake Preston, South Dakota and passed away Octo- ber 6, 1995, in Delano, Califor- nia. He was 77 years old. He retired from McDonnell Douglas after 25 years. He has been a resident of Kernville for 12 years. And a member of the Family Life Center in Wofford Heights. He was a Master Craftsman.
Mr. Adams was survived by his wife of 53 years Larene Adams of Kernville; sons Randy Adams of Echo Park, California, and Dennis Adams of Palmdale; daughter Sharon Murray of North Hollywood; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by all.
