Wilhelmina Mae Cimo

Wilhelmina Mae Cimo was born Wilhelmina Mae Meinders on July 9, 1913, in Goodell, lowa, to immigrant parents, Jenny Greenlander Meinders and Henry Meinders from Hanover, Germany. Her early years were spent as the eighth child of nine children in a Ger- man-speaking community of immigrant farmers. At age 10 with the death of her mother, a maiden aunt Libby, who was a school teacher and recently married to a Presbyterian min- ister, John Meinders, took Wilhelmina and two of her cousins in and raised the three girls as their own daughters in Auburn, Kansas.

After high school, Wilhelmina attended nursing school in Emporia, Kansas. Her adventuresome spirit brought her to Los Angeles during the war years where she met and married George Albert Wise. She bore three natural children: Larry Wise of Cogswell, North Dakota; Judy Wise and Lois Wise, of San Diego; and after 19 years of marriage she sadly said goodbye to George before his travel to meet his Savior in heaven.

Three years later Willa-Mae married Earle Lloyd Cleveland and took to her heart three more children as her own, Lester Cleveland of Indio; Doug Cleveland of Napa; and Sheryl Cleveland , of Placerville, California. Having 29 wonderful years of marriage she also released Earle into the loving hands of Jesus.

Then a wonderful thing hap- pened and she was able to call a friend John Cimo husband and have four joyful years of marriage. It is with sadness that we all said a quick goodbye on August 28, 1997. At the age of 84, we thought we had many

Wilhelmina was known for her big heart, kindness to every- one and a listening ear. So we, a loving husband, six children, 19 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren say a loving but sad farewell with thankful hearts for her unconditional love and true Christian spirit. She will be missed.
