In Memory of Gary Abernathy Dec. 26, 1972-Oct. 18, 2001
If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord your soul to keep.
If I knew that it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and a kiss and call you back for just one more.
If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would video tape each action and word, so I could play it back each day.
If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra moment to stop and say "I love you," instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time, I would be there to share your last day, I was sure you would have so many more If only I knew not one would slip away.
I thought we would always have tomorrow, to make up for a fight and I could get a second chance to make everything just right.
But Uncle Gary, I was wrong the short time I had was all I got but if you were here I would say I love you and you will never be forgot! Love, Ashley Dye

Billy A. Couch
Billy Couch died Oct. 19, 2002, in Bakersfield after a heroic struggle with a vari- ety of health problems. He lived alone and had only a few distant relatives in Oklahoma.
A graduate geologist and later a fighter pilot from 1953 to 1959, he moved to Bodfish in the late 1980s. He became active in the Kern River Valley Histori- cal Society in 1988. When long-standing curator Bob Merriam retired in 1990, Billy became only the third curator in museum history. He was a member of the search committee that ac- quired the new museum site in Kernville (formerly a medical building) and was instrumental in setting up the exhibits there. He was a key figure in the museum for five years; a tour leader; a mentor for docents; and he was active in fund rais- ing.
Then Billy dropped from museum work and became active in developing the fish hatchery. He contributed to many of the improvements there. In both of these en- deavors he was generous with donations to fund vari- ous projects. As it was once
said, "He put his money where his mouth is."
Billy worked best when he was "solo," both in his professional and social life. Although he had romantic interests, bachelorhood won out. He was especially good with children; they fol- lowed him around the musuem as if he were the Pied Piper, listening to ev- ery word.
The Valley is a better place for his efforts. There is little more important than that. No formal memorial service is contemplated, but friends and organizations will pay him due respect in different ways.

. In Memory of Pauline Addison
Pauline's friends and team members at Century 21 Lake Isabella Realty grieve the terrible and untimely loss of our friend. She was so special to us for many years. Pauline was a highly respected proven leader in the valley and the real estate profession. She loved the real estate profession, her team members and her many clients.
More importantly. Pauline had a close relationship with God, was a deeply devoted wife and mother and loved her husband Bob and their beautiful family.
We will greatly miss her wonderful sense of humor, friendship and contribution to each of our lives. There is no doubt that she is with God and leaves a huge void in the hearts and lives of those who had the privi- lege to know her.
Our prayers are with Bob and the Addison family for their loss of someone so special.
