Y., and descended from Myles Standish. The ancestor, Walter Deane, came from England (town of Chard) and settled at Taunton between 1620 and 1630.


He was graduated from the Lawrence Scientific School of Harvard University 1873, received the degree of B.S. 1875, and was in- structor and tutor in engineering at the same institution 1874-82.

He came to Lexington to reside in April 1852. He enlisted 18 Aug. 1861 in Co. E, 12th Mass. Inf'y, discharged 2 Feb. 1865, at expiration of service. He was taken prisoner 5 May 1864, at the Battle of the Wilderness and sent to Andersonville Prison. During Sherman's march through Georgia the weakest prisoners were transferred to Florence, S. C. He was exchanged from there, reach- ing Lexington 2 Jan. 1865. He has been a carpenter.

THEODORE HASKELL3 DORR (John,2 Ebenezer1) was born at Boston 15 Aug. 1815, died 1875, 16th child of John, born at Boston 29 Oct. 1770, and grandson of Ebenezer and Abigail (Cunningham). His mother, Esther Goldthwait, was born at Boston 9 Oct. 1775, daughter of Benjamin and Sarah White (Dawes). The ancestor, Joseph Dorr, came from England and settled at Boston (?).


He was graduated from Harvard A. B. in 1835, and from Harvard Divinity School in 1838. He was a Unitarian minister. He lived at Boston, Winchendon, Billerica, Sherborn, and East Lexington. In most of those places if not in all he was settled as a minister. He was settled at East Lexington 2 July 1845, and came to Lexing- ton again in May 1863, after leaving Sherborn.


He married at Boston, 30 May 1839, NANCY CAROLINE RICH- ARDS, born at Boston 10 Jan. 1817, daughter of Joseph and Alice Winchester (Lovering).
