He was an assessor 1825-27. At seventy-nine he was as active as most men of sixty. He was an accomplished fifer and played for military companies for nearly seventy years, and was known as such from Bangor, Me., to Alexandria, Va. He was in active service for three months in the War of 1812, and played for the annual parade of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Mass. during a period of fifty years. In the Civil War "his music sent many a sol- dier from this Commonwealth filled with keener enthusiasm to defend his country."
He married May 1817 LUCINDA WYMAN of Medford, died 4 Apr. 1853, aged 60.
