He is engaged in farming and poultry raising, is a Free Mason, and became a resident of Lexington in 1907, purchasing land and buildings on Woburn St.


He married at Jay, Me., 14 June 1879, ADA FRANCES LUDDEN, born at Livermore, Me., 11 Nov. 1852, daughter of Daniel White and Mary Ann (Bean).


ROBERT C.2 HARLOW (Henry M.1) was born at Lynn, son of Henry M. and Sarah F. (Cowen).


He married 16 Oct. 1895 EVA F. WHITTEMORE, born at Cam- bridge, daughter of Henry W. and Sophia W. (Prentiss).

5. ROBERT3 HARRINGTON (Daniel,2 Robert1), born 2 July 1685, died 5 Feb. 1774.


He was a blacksmith and settled at Lexington; his name first appears upon our church records in 1712, when he owned the cove- nant and his son Samuel was baptized. He was chosen a fence viewer in 1713, so he must have been a permanent resident at that time. He was a cousin of John who came from Watertown about the same time, these two being the ancestors of the large family of Harringtons.


He married 15 Nov. 1711 ANNA HARRINGTON, died 26 Oct. 1777, in her 86th year, daughter of Samuel2 and Grace (Livermore) of Watertown.

9. ROBERT4 HARRINGTON (Robert,3 Daniel,2 Robert1), born 26 Apr. 1719, died 30 May 1793.


He filled many town offices and bore the title of ensign; he was one of the selectmen in 1752, and reelected to that office some twelve or fourteen years, and chairman of the board during the Revolution. He was also a magistrate for many years and for four years represented the town in the General Court.


He married first ABIGAIL MASON, born 23 Nov. 1721, died 15 Aug. 1778, daughter of Daniel3 and Experience (Newcomb) of Newton. They were admitted to the church at Lexington 11 Aug. 1745. He married secondly 16 Apr. 1781 MRS. CHLOE (GREEN- BLANEY) TRASK, who married fourthly 16 Apr. 1795 David Cum- mings of Woburn.

15. JONATHAN5 HARRINGTON (Henry,4 John,3 John,2 Robert1), born 6 Mar. 1744-45. He was killed on the Common by the British on the morning of 19 April 1775.


He married 13 Feb. 1766 RUTH FISKE, born 10 Apr. 1746, daugh- ter of Dr. Robert5 and Mrs. Abigail (Grover); she married secondly 8 Feb. 1777 John Smith of Boston.

20. JONATHAN5 HARRINGTON (Jonathan,4 Robert,3 Daniel,2 Robert1), born 8 July 1758, died 26 Mar. 1854.


He was the fifer of Capt. Parker's company, and one of the young- est defenders of his country, also the last survivor of the Battle of Lexington. His death produced a marked sensation in the com- munity, and his funeral was attended by the governor, lieutenant- governor, the members of the council, the senate and house of rep- resentatives, by officers of the militia, and prominent citizens generally. Two companies of militia, ordered out by the governor, did escort duty at his interment and fired a volley over his grave.


He married SALLY BANKS, died 28 July 1847, aged 85, (?) daugh- ter of Zaccheus and Sarah (Wheeler) of Malden.
