He was a resident in early life of the adjoining town of Woburn, where he became an inmate of Benjamin Edgell's family, arriving 11 Feb. 1771, and remaining 153 weeks, or till 20 July 1772. "Doct. Blodgett,"another Lexington young man, also left Edgell's house in Woburn on. 20 July 1772. Benjamin Edgell in his account book stated that Doctor Blodgett had arrived as an inmate of his family at Woburn, 20 June 1769.1 In Lexington he lived at the corner of Elm Avenue and Bedford Street, the place consisting of a house and an acre of land which he purchased of Mrs. Ruth Harrington in 1777.

In Hurd, Hist. of Middlesex County, Vol. i., p. 370, is the statement that the 153 weeks may refer to Blodgett's stay, or to that of both of them, David Fiske, afterwards a doctor at Lexing- ton, evidently standing to Blodgett in the light of a pupil and assistant. Benjamin Edgell, the recorder of these items, came to Woburn from Lexington, the place of his former residence, about 1768.
