PRINCE ESTABROOK, a negro, living in the family of Benjamin Estabrook, was among those who stood the fire of British troops, on Lexington Common, on 19 April 1775, at which time he was wounded. He served afterwards in almost every campaign of the war.

of the militia 19 April 1775, commissioned surgeon in Gridley's Ar- tillery Regiment 19 April 1775; his name appears on the muster roll of Capt. Parker's company who were called to Cambridge 17-18 June 1775. 1 Jan. 1777 commissioned hospital surgeon and physi- cian, occupying through the war the house of Beverly Robinson opposite West Point. He served from 1788 for six or seven years in the General Court, two terms in Congress, was Secretary of War 1809-13, minister to Holland 1814-18, in Congress 1820-23, and governor of Massachusetts 1823 to his death. "He hastened to his country's service on the eventful morning of the 19th of April 1775, And within the precincts hallowed by blood, which was shed on that day, After an honorable and useful life, he rests in peace and hope conformably to his last wish by his mother's side."

FARMER


NATHANIEL4 FARMER (John,3 John,2 Edward1) was born at Billerica 29 Jan. 1725-26, died 3 Sept. 1778.


He was first taxed in 1748. He was a member of Capt. Parker's company on the morning of 19 April 1775, and was severely wounded by a bullet which struck his right arm, and so fractured the bone that he was not only disabled for a long time, but pieces of bone were extracted from it for several months afterward. The General Court of the time granted him £15, 15s. for loss of labor and the expense of surgical attendance.

WALTER3 FAXON (Elisha, 2 Elisha1) was born at Roxbury 4 Feb. 1848, son of Elisha, born at Abington 6 May 1801 and grandson of Elisha and Ruth (Cobb). His mother, Hannah Mann Whiting, was born at Hanover 7 July 1805, daughter of Thomas and Hannah (Mann). His immigrant ancestor was Thomas Faxon from England, who settled at Braintree.


He was graduated from Harvard, A.B. 1871, S.B. 1872, S.D. 1878. He is connected with the Agassiz Museum, Cambridge. He became a resident of Lexington, first in 1886, again in 1903.

1. HARRY FRANK3 FAY (Frank B.,2 Francis B.,1) was born at Chelsea 5 Aug. 1849, son of Frank Brigham, born at Southboro 24 Jan. 1821, and grandson of Francis Ball and Nancy (Brigham). His mother, Rebekah Bridges, was born at St. Albans, Vt., 3 July 1820, daughter of William.


He was graduated from Mass. Institute of Technology, 1871. He was engaged in commercial business until 1883, then in the pro- fession of music until 1897, and now is president of mining com- panies. He became a summer resident in 1901 and a permanent resident in 1906.


He married at Boston, 28 Jan. 1874, MARY CORNELIA HULL, born at Hartford, Conn., daughter of Edmund Burke and Mary Emeline (Dean).
