He lived in the house located in the South School District, Wo- burn Second Precinct, 1791, owned and occupied by his father. Five generations of Reeds have lived there. The room where the British prisoners captured at Lexington were confined before their removal elsewhere is still in existence.


He married at Boston, 25 Dec. 1849, MARY JANE MAGEE of Cornwallis, N. S., born 3 Mar. 1822, died 18 Nov. 1904.

ALBIN RUFUS3 REED (Rufus, 2 Asa1) was born at Lowell 27 Oct. 1852, died at Westboro 24 Dec. 1904, elder son of Rufus, born at Westford 6 Sept. 1818, and grandson of Asa and Betsy (Prescott). His mother was Martha Safford Dodge, born at New Boston, N. H., 18 Aug. 1824, daughter of Samuel and Sophia (Chandler). He was descended from Elias Reed, born 1595 at Maidstone, Kent, Eng- land, and settled at Woburn, who was son of William Reade, pro- fessor of divinity.


He was a teacher of vocal music, and studied music, in Europe, for several years. He became a resident of Lexington in June 1894.


He married at Arlington, 7 July 1884, ANNIE GOODWIN, born at Arlington 6 Oct. 1854, daughter. of Charles E. and Susan Clark (Lane).
