* A plan of a part of Mr. Simon Winship's farm at Lexington, drawn from a seale of 10 rods to an inch, by Peter Tufts, Jr., of Charlestown, 23 Sept. 1S12, shows several pieces of land, aggre- gating 17 acres and a fraction (17 a. 1 qr. 35 poles or rods), besides the mansion house, and a small private cemetery. This property has been for many years in the family of Stephen Robbins. The estate is bounded on the south by the "road from Charlestown to Coneord through Lexington."

1. JOHN1 WINTER, tanner, a proprietor of Watertown 1636-37, died at Watertown 14 or 21 Apr. 1662, aged about 90. His will dated 4 Mar. 1661-62, proved 16 June 1662, named sons Richard and Thomas, late of London, daughter Alice Lackman of London, son John of Watertown, executor, to whom he gave his lands, etc., at Watertown.
2. JOHN2 WINTER (John1), died at Cambridge Farms 18 Dec. 1690. He probably came from Cambridge to the Farms where he had land assigned him between the eight-mile line and Concord in 1683. His will, dated 12 Dec. 1690, probated 1 May 1691, made no mention of his wife, who probably had died before him; named sons John, Thomas and Samuel, and daughters Sarah, Hannah and Mary.

WOOTON*
CAPTAIN JOHN WOOTON died at Lexington 5 Apr. 1769 (buried 4 Apr. 1769, record of Rev. Samuel Cooke, West Cambridge). He was a sea captain, and made twenty-two voyages to Surinam, Dutch Guiana.
The Wooton homestead was on Lowell Turnpike, corner of Maple St., recently the Nathan Fessenden place.
