St. Louis · Rabbi Is Coming Here to Conduct the Services.


Funeral services will be held, at p. m. Wednesday at the family home. 700 Past Walnut street, for Modes Levy, 81, president of the Levy-Wolf Dry floods company, who died early | yesterday morning.


Rabbi Leon Harrison, of St. Louis, a friend of Mr. Levy and his family. will come from .Hot Springs, Ark- where he has been resting, to oftiol- ste. Burial will be In the Temple Israel cemetery, under the direction of the Alma Lohmeyer Funeral home.

PAID RECENT VISIT


He was sent immediately to Port au Prince, and placed in charge of the marine airfield there


Only last summer, he was bome for a brief visit with his folk, and even then they sought to persuade him to give up aviation for the usual marine corps service. That was his life. however, and be ry- fused.


Lieutenant Harris is survived by his parents, one sister and three brothers. The sister is Mrs. Pearl Vickroy of St. Louis, and the brothers are Frank Harris, also of St. Louis, Richard Harris, who is attending the Central Business school in Kansas City, and Hal Har- ris, who is associated ' with his father in business in Greenfield.

FARMER RETURNS TO HOME HE SOLD AND SHOOTS SELF


JAMES CHILDRESS, 39 years old, wealthy bachelor farmer. of Aurora, ahot and instantly killed himself yesterday afternoon about $: 30 o'clock in a farm home which he formerly owned about zeven miles from Springfield one the Bat- thefield road.


Childress had been auffering from nervous trouble for some time and his brothers and sisters had been concerned about him, they paid after learning of the tragedy.

Mr. Childress had been know a prominent and enterprising farm- er. He also had been financially successful. A few months ago after his health became bad he sold his farm aouth of Springfield. For a time he lived in Springfield with a sister and then made his home with a brother in Aurora. Frienda said that' he never had appeared satis- fled or contented after leaving the farm. He often had said that he "did not want to die In town."


Teaterday he returned to the farm which he had sold. The own- ers thought nothing strange about It when he wished to go to the attic. lecause he formerly had owned the fince. But a few moments later they heard the report of a gun and" rushing upstairs. found the man dead. '

J. B Heaver. 74, judge of the Laclede county court for several Fears, died at his home 1f malles southeast of Lebanon. He is sur- vired by the widow, four children and two brothers.


Sam Franklin, 80, who lived' lo the same neighborhood, died at his home today after a lingering illness. He was a veteran of the civil war and was born and reared In La- clede county. He is survived by several children.

Farmer Had Brooded Over Selling His Farm Near Here.

Only a few minutes later a shot Was heard. The owner rushed to the atlle and found Childress lying on the noor, with a bullet wound In his forehead, according to Coroner Windle.


Childress had been suffrving from pervous trouble for some time, rela- tives told Coroner Windle after learn- ing of the tragedy. They said they bad been deeply concerned about his Condition.
