He was buried August 24 in Marshall Texas.+ Mr. Woodgurty was one of's the ploueera of Texas and the Southwest part of the United :: Sta.es. Ho, came. from & hale stock of middle Tenn- essee settlers and was the last mem- ber of his immedi- 'ate family to "die."" His youngest brother died at the age of 72.


After bis son, Oscar, moved to Springfield several years ago, Mr. Woodruff was 4 frequent visitor in the city. He has many friends here and is remembered for his Interesting stories of the up- building the west.


He was reared in V. ashington county A:k. During the c: Il war he fought 1 :. the Texas W. D. Woodruff ~avairy and after the war settled in Ranger, Texas. His son recalls that Mr. Woodruff was a tee;otaler and an abstainer from tobacco during his entire life. While youug he often rode & bronco 15 miles to attend church on Sunday.
