Pomp and Ceremony Mark Wedding of Popular Springfield Couple Held Yesterday, Bride and Groomon Motor Trip to Several Cities


: POMP and. ceremony_held full-sway-yesterday when Miss Marlon Shook, pretty and popular Springfield' society mald, became the bride of Mr. John Carl McCluer, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. McCluer of George Street road, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. .. Shook. 605 South Fremont, avenue, at 12 o'clock.


Miss Shook was charming in larkspur blue over crepe satin and woaring. a.flesh colored picture, hat, with shoes to match. She carried a shower bouquet of Annie Laurie roses. The maid of honor. Miss Helen McKee, of St. Louis, the bride's only attendant, wore a truck of flesh georgette trimmed In blonde lace with blonde hat and shoes to complete the ensemble, carrying a bouquet of pink roses.


The ceremony was performed by the Reverend C. H. Briggs before the fireplace in the Shook realdence, Improvised as an altar with flower and forns and art baskets of peonleg serving as the decorations and carrying out a pink and white color scheme. Mr. Ed Shelpman acted as „. best. man. Little Miss Frances_McVey opened the door.


Preceding the ceremony Mr. Frank Shadday sang "Roses of Picardy." During the services Miss Frances Bowman and Miss Josephine Um- burger, at the piano and violin, played "To a Wild Rose." To the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march the procession began and at the close of the reading of the vows the couple marched out as Liebestraum was played.


Only members of the two familles and a few guests were present at 'the wedding. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. W. E. M ..... of 'St. Louis, Mrs. Ralph McGinty of Chanute, Kangas, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dugan of Tulsa, Oklahoma.


A large wedding cake formed the centerpiece of the wedding dinner :able. containing the usual symbols, a ring, a button, a thimble, and a place of allver. Four tapere surrounded the cake.


The couple will leave soon for a honeymoon on a motor trip, visiting Memphis, St. Louis, and Oklahoma City.
