Mrs. McBride is the wife of a prominent druggist of West Pleins, who also was seriously Injured in the blast. Struggled to Extricate Wife.
Whenthe explosion came they were sitting together near the front of the dance hall and fell with the great mass of debris at the front of the wreckage. Mr. MoBride managed to catricate himself immediately and! was trying feebly to free hla wife when rescuers aided in removing the wreckage and carried her out before the flames reached her.
Resolutiona of sympathy were mailed yesterday by the West Pleins Chamber of Commerce to each family whose relatives perished In the holo- caust. The resolutiona were printed on heavy paper in a beautiful design so that relatives of those who lost their lives .may preserve it as a token of deep sympathy of the business men of Weat Plains. Everett HI. Thayer. 68, owner of the Metropollian hotel, and long netive In hotel circles In Springfield, died yesterday nfternoun at the Metropolitan following a short ill- ness. Mr. Thayer came to Springfield more than a score of years ago. For lv years previous to 1917 he was superintendent of the Fred Harvey system for the southwest district. with headquarters In Springfield.
Managed Harvey Company
In 1917 he retired from the Fred Harvey company to become man- ager of the Colonial hotel. He sold his Interests In the t'olonial hotel In 1921 and went to los Angeles. Cal., where he purchased the Gothan hotel, one of the largest In the city.

Mail Stagecoach Station of Ante-Bellum Days Is Torn Down.
A few weeks NON the liatarle ald dwelling which had stood for more ther three-fourths of a re !!! ury on what is known as the Marlow farm, ori - flat Creek below Cassville five milena, was tom down.
This dwelling house served in ante- bellum deye as a mail stage-coach station on the old wire road between Springfield and Ft. Smith.
The original building was of hewn logs, two stories in height. An out- alde stairway between the two large lower rooms was characteristic of the stagecoach station houses of that day. Before the Civil war, and for several years thereafter, the, atage- coach was the means of "rapid" transportation. The old wire mad from St. Louis via. Rolla, Lebanon. Springfield. Casstille, Fayetteville to Ft. Smith, was the historic route over which passengers wert traunported and over which the United States malla and express were carried.
The old dwelling on the Matlow farm was & station stop ou thia im- portant Southwest Missouri old road. Quita a good deal of early Barry roun- ty history le connected with Thin old wire road, and these old atage-coach standa were important places on it.
Many etttrena recall when the Mur- ray family and the Frost family lived. at different .imes, at this station: John Frost, now living at Washburn, maya ha recalls those days vividly when, but a mere Ind. ho mmstated in caring for the horses used in drenthe !.. ... ... recalls riding a little malle us a nies- nage carter on the old wire route.
