Starne funeral parlors to select a casket for her husband, vio- tim of' Newell "Dobb" Adams; who rao amuck Monday. fatally wounding two and sarlously Injuring two others. Mrs. DeArmond did not view ber husband's body. She will wait until late In the afternoon.

Hold'Services Today i For Officer Killed Monday In Battle


Springfield today will pay honor to the memory of Francis DeArmond, police detective.


Funeral services for the officer, who was killed in a gun battle Monday night by Newell. "Dobb" Adams, wu "be held at 10 o'clock this morning at Starne mortuary.


· Uniformed police will act, as . pall bearers and guards of honor. Fol- lowing the services at the mortuary , the body will be taken to Grove chapel, near Ererton, where .services will be held at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be there.

Body, of 80; Year-Old Farmer Found By Daughters At Home Near Monett .


Spoelal Dispatch to The News, MONETT. Mo., June - 20 .- G. W. Yoakum, 80, farmer living eight miles west of Monett on .... Highway 16, banged himself early this morning. Falling health was given as the cause of his act.


Found By Daughters The aged man was found by his two daughters, Mary and Frances. with whom he made his home, when they went to the barn to milk early this morning.


Survived By Five


Mr. Yoakum's wife died eight years ago. He is survived by five children, Misses Mary and Frances Youkum. Mrs. Susan Boyne, Tom Yoakum and D. W. Yoakum.

Robinette-Cook Wedding Here


A very pretty home wedding took place Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mra. M. 8. Cook, 712 Hampton street, when their daughter, Miss Mary Catherine Cook became the bride of Mr. John T. Robinette, Jr.


Reverend M. T. Cowden read the wedding service, and the double ring ceremony was used. The bridal party stood before a background of green, decorated with pink and white roses. and baskets of lilies and hydranges. The house was decorated with wreaths, bowls, and vases of flowers. Preceding the ceremony, Miss Myra K. Cook, uster .of the bride, sang "Be- cause" accompanied by . Miss Martha Crendall. Lohengrin's wedding march was played during the ceremony.

. ' The bride wore a frock of white taffeta, mady bouffant. She wore & long vell held in place with a head piece of pearls. She carried & wed- ding bouquet of roses and sweet peas. Her attendant was her sister, Miss Myra Cook. They were joined at the altar by the groom and his brother. Mr. J. H. Robinette, who acted as best man.


Only relatives and close friends at- tended the wedding. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Crandall and Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Crandall of Mt. Vernon, Mo., Mrs. J. A. Robinette, and Mrs. Paul Robinette of Hartville, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Bryant and family of Miller, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Hudde of Golden City. Mo.


After a short wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Robinette plan to reside in Springfield.

Many Floral Tributes Cover Grave of Francis DeArmond, Shot Down Monday By Newell Adams


FLOWERS given in loving tribute by friends and relatives banked bigh the grave of Francis M. De- Armond, police detective ahot by Newell "Dobb" Adama and buried carly yesterday afternoon on the gently hinside of the Grove cemetery ut Everton.


Hundreds of persona gathered at the Starne mortuary where funeral services were conducted yesterday morning and again at the


little church at the Grove cemetery.


CHAPEL CROWDED


The chapel of the Starne mortuary was completely filled and hundreds of others gathered in the street.


The Reverend W. R. Russell, pastor of .the First Presbyterian church at Everton who has known Mr. and Mrs. DeArmond many years, con- ducted the funeral services.


Uniformed officers of the police force, city and county . officials as well as hundreds of neighbors and friends of the DeArmond . family at- lended the service. Immediately after . The brief service here the crowd filed by the casket in a last tribute to the vain hero and the procession started for Everton.

Motorcycle policemen . Virgil John- son and S. N Brookshire acted as the escort. Chief of Police G. C. Pike, Mayor T. H Gideon, and as- distant chief of police. H L. Teaff


were among the many persons going from Springfield to the cemetery. About 50 cars were in the funeral procession.

Since the tragedy Monday the has been postrate with grief but, although the wept uncontrollably and plainly was torn by the terrific strain of the or- deal, she was able to make the trip to Everton. Elsle DeArmond. 16-year- old adopted daughter. remained close ! at her side, as she has since disaster ; overtook the latte household Monday.
