Dying of Stab Wounds, Police Probe Puzzle; Negro Ar- rested For Manslaughter Provides Bond


CHARGES of manslaughter were flled In municipal court yeater-


đay morning charging Milton Adams, negro, 936 East Lynn street, with the fatal stabbing of Arthur Stacey, 44, laborer, of 411 1-2 Boonevilla avenue, Tuesday night. Stacey died at 8:30 o'clock yes- terday morping at the Springfield Baptist hospital.


Adams, Immediately following bis arrest on the manslaughter charge, was released on $3000 bond furnish- ed by four Springfield negroes.


Sincey was found shortly after 8 o'clock Tuesday night, badly cut. In the 1300 block, North Texas street. He was taken to the homp !- tel where it was sald his condition was not serious.

Fort forty-three years Mr. and Mrs. Norman B. Goldsborough have resided in Moneit, where he is known as one of the oldest employea of the Frisco railroad.


Natives of Wabash county, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Goldsborougb are 85 and 81 years old, respectively. On July 7 they will celebrate their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary. Both are hale and hearty, despite their advanced age.

Milton Adams, Negro, of 926 . East Lynn street, yesterday was charged with manslaughter in connection with the alleged stabbing of Arthur Stacey, 44. of 41115 Boonville, who died yesterday morning in & hosp !- tal here as a result of the wounds.


The charge was filed In the mu- nicipal court' bf Prosecuting Attor- ney W. W. Hamlin. Arraigned be- fore Judge Charles A. Hubbard, of the municipal' court. Adamo' prelim- Inary was set for Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. He failed to furnish bonda of $3,000.


The affray occurred Tuesday night Adams told officers that he found Stacey In his home. The Negro claimed he ordered the man to leave and upon failure to accede to his de- manda he said he slashed him with s knlic. ---


Stacey was taken to the Springfield Baptist hospital. He had two severe gashes on his right side and back.

Word was received here yesterday of the death of Ben P. Waters, forn- erly of Springfield. , 'He died In In- dianapolis. Ind., and will be buried In Savannab, Mo., Monday afternoon. Mr. Waters married MIM Eten Ellen Kuhns, a former art supervoor In the Springfield public schools. While Ilring here he was connected with the Thomas-Murphy company. His death came after an operation from appendicitus.
