Mrs. Sarah O. Rand, long time Springfield resident and of an old family of the city, died last night al her home. 1551 Benton Av nue. after a lingering Illness. She was :9 years old.
Mrs. Rand enjoyed the dis:inc- lion of being the oldest member of the Congregational church in Springfield. both In years and i length of membership.
She was the widow of H. T. Iland. prominent early day merchant, city councilman and school board niem- ber, who died 30 years ago. She came to Springfield in 1693.

ROBERT L. TOOMBS DIES AT HIS HOME
President of Sash Company Expires at Age of 52; Prom- inent in Masons
Robert L. Toombs. 62, president of the Toombs-Fay Sash and Door company here, dled at 3:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, 967 Delmar street.
Nr. Toombs was widely known here, having been in business in Springfield a total of 25 years. For a number of years he was presi- dent of the Toombs Sash and Door company of Fort Worth, Texas, re- lurning here in 1924 to become identified with the Toombs-Fay company.
lle was a member of Solomon lodge No. 2.1. A. F. and A. M. and other Masonic organizations ..
Mr. Toombs Is aurvived by his wife, Mrs. Clara L. Toombs; one son, Robert . L. Toombs, Jr., and a daughter. Mrs. Ethel May Fay of Springfield.

Benton Oliver, 85, Pioneer Merchant, Dies at Home Here
Benton Oliver. S.S., pioneer Spring- field mierebant, died. at.11:30 o'clock Inat night'nt. his home. 110 Hovey street, following a lingering illness
Mr. Oliver was prominent as a Commercial street business man for many years, having founded the Benton 'Oliver and Sons Dry Goods company. Ills son. Paul Ollver. now is president of the Oliver Mo- tor company here.
Prior to coming to Springfield to establish a business, Mr. Oliver was in business for a number of years at Hickory Barrena, 12 miles north of here.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters Mrs. Ola Brown and Mrs. May Carter, and one son, Paul Oliver. all of Springfield.

Mrs. E. M. Vanderzert, 77, diad at. 2.o'clock yesterday in a hospital here. She is survived by a niece. Miss Erma Swain of Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Starne Funeral home, and burial will be in Eastlawn cemetery.
