A German hymn book, printed in [ since 1914. Will Grueninger la the 1784 in Stuttgart, Germany, is In the next In line for the book. possession of W. P. Grueninger, Route 1, Springfield, a great grandson of the first owner. It was purchased for 30 phenning, or about 30 cents.


History connecte the Grueninger family with the town of Ludwigsburg which is in the famous Wurttemberg county. Germany. For many years The book contains a complete iam- lly record written in the prefece. In 1887 it was given to Margaretta Orueninger, who was then redding In Ludwigsburg. Graduate of Drury and Known To Many Springfieldians Dies While on Boston Trip


Word . that Henry Phelps How .. land, a graduate of Drury college in 1898 and well known to many Springfield people, had died sud- denly. Friday afternoon while on a business trip to Boston, Mass., was received bere yesterday by William A: 'Daggett, registrar at Drury, and & close friend of the llowiand fam- Uly.


The son of C. P. Howland, who was for "several years the "after" at Fairbanks. hall, Phelps Howlund was at the time of his death the superintendeut . of blust furnaces of the International Harvester com- pany's plant In Chicago.


Nr. Dasselt came to Drury with C. P. Howland, The father of Phelps Howland, from Tabor Academy. Marion, aNas., In 1893 and for sev- eral years lived with the family.


The elder Howland is now in Bonnay, India, on a ton of the world. Shortly after he. his wife and hls three sons came to Drury he was placed. In charge of the boys' dormitory. Fairbanks hall, then just completed. and served there until 1006 His Three auna, Ralph, Slan and Henry l'helps, all were grad- ja'ed from the school.
