POTWINE, of E. W. This family probably of French-Huguenot origin. Freuch, POITEVIN, meaning an inhabitant of Poiton, in France; Eng., PorYs; has only one coat-of-arms, which bears a fleur-de-lis. The E. W. Potwines have dropped the final e in the name. The following genealogy is mostly compiled by Mr. ARTHUR E. POTWINE of E. W., with contributions from other sources.
