BENNETT, John, sentenced (C'al. Rer.) to be whipped, 1639; June, 1648, bound over for his good behavior in sum of $20; at Oel. court, same year, John Drake "complains agt. John Bennett for saying that he had enticed and drawn away the affection of his daughter"; John Bissell complains of him for his " breach of cov enant," and John Griffin " for slandering and defaming him "; the court, upon his "expressing his repentance aud promising better carriage in future, " was " willing once more to pass over his corporeal punishment." In 1652 he was still unmarried, and the town ordered that "John Bennett should be entertained by William Hay- den in his family." Previous to this he had bought and sold the Peter Tillon house. After 1652 he disappears from Windsor.
BENNET, William and wife Sarah, came to Windsor from Ipswich, Mass.
