At the age of 52 he enlisted in the American forces World War II, overseas, being among the oldest to enlist in the U. S. Army, honorably discharged, Oct. 4, 1944. Awarded the purple heart for distinguished service. Member of American Legion and Italian Civic Club. Married Charlotte Marchese of Lawrence, graduate of North Adams High School. SALUSTRI, VICTOR - Insurance Representative and Leader. Born Segni, Frosinone, Italy, March 9, 1894. Son of Augusto Salustri and Clarice Ramacci. Educated in the High Schools in Italy. Came to Amer- ica in 1911, settling in Greenfield, Mass., where in 1925 he discovered a method of making money through foreign exchange; devising the Sa- lustri plan to repay the Italian debt to U. S., which was for a time the talk in the country. In 1931 he published his book "Sure Money" and numerous articles, occupying front pages in the New York papers. SALVATORE, LOUIS N .- (late) Born Albanella, Salerno, Italy, April 7, 1891. Son of Stanislao Salvatore and Annina Cerruti. Graduated from Tarquato Tasso College of Salerno in 1909. Came to U. S. in 1913 settling in Boston, where he became proprietor of Savoy Pharmacy. In 1925 he organized the Salerno Lodge Order Sons of Italy in East Boston. Elected grand trustee in the Pittsfield convention in 1925 of Sons of Italy Lodge. Later became secretary of the insurance fund of the grand lodge. In 1932 he was elected grand financial sec'ty and in 1942 grand recording secretary. Was editor of Sons of Italy magazine of the grand lodge. Married Angelina Poto of Boston, May 15, 1915. Children: Anna, Stanley and Louis Jr., veterans U. S. Navy. Mr. Salvatore was one of the most outstanding Italo- American citizens in the state. Took deep interest in the welfare of his people and sponsored every worthy cause. Died May 22, 1944. Address: 73 Maverick Sq., E. Boston.
