Graduated from Medford High school in 1917. Served in World War I (Canadian Expeditionary Force). Studied radio for four years and travelled throughout the East for the Victor Talking Machine Co. In the service of the Prudential Life Insurance Co. since 1934. Married Phyllis M. Arnold of N. Y. C., (a direct descendant of John Alden), Nov. 11, 1925. Children: Marie Virginia, a gifted pianist; Phyllis Lorraine, and John R. In 1925 Mr. Verdi travelled in England, France and Italy, where on August of same year he presented credentials establishing his father's rightful claims as a relative to the estate of Giuseppe Verdi, the great opera composer. While at Harvard won second highest honors in the country by the National Board of Medi- cal Examiners, in a competition test in which 273 candidates from various medical schools in U. S. took part. In 1936 he successfully delivered in a home a famous set of Siamese twins, weighing 131/2 lbs. joined only by the back of their heads. In 1903 he married Mary Domenica Cinella, a native of Monte San Giovanni Campagna, Rome, Italy. Children: Rocco, employed in city dept .; Frederick, assistant man- ager of Genoa Cafe; Carlo, a graduate of Brockton High, is a baker and a welder; James, a graduate of Brockton High, is supervisor at Bethlehem Steel Corp .; Mary, a graduate of Brockton High, is married to Russell Ether; Anthony, a graduate of Brockton High, is a supervisor at Bethle- hem Steel Corp and a veteran of U. S. Navy, World War II; Francis, is a student. Mr. Villa is member of numerous organizations, is also in the real estate business, an expert plant grower and active in civic affairs. Attended public schools in his native town. Came to U. S. in 1912 settling in Plymouth. Served in U. S. Army, World War I, in France, awarded medals for bravery. In business since 1929. Formerly with Cesare Broccoli groceries for 12 years. Married Eva Peder- zani of Plymouth, April 20, 1925. Children: Thomas Richard, a graduate of Kingston High, is in U. S. Marines overseas; Norma Palma, a graduate of Kingston High, is secretary to her father; Peter Paul, a graduate of Kingston High School; Eva Dorothy is student. Member: Plymouth Mutual Aid Society, Vespucci Club and American Legion. Has following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Serafina Pasquini; Mrs. Adele Broccoli; Adolfo; all in Plymouth, and Umberto and Giuseppe are in Italy. Res .: 110 Main St., Kingston.
VILLANI, ANTONIO-Born Cansano, Aquila, Italy, July 9, 1894. Son of Giovanni Battista Villani and Maria Giovanna D'Amico. Educated in the public schools of his native town. Came to U. S. in 1913 settling in Milford, where he has been in the service of Draper Corp. since 1917, specializing in textile industry and has introduced numerous improved ideas and patents, patented in Washington, D. C. Also worker at Hopedale Mfg. Co. for several years, at which time he introduced the famous Italian industrialist Beniamino Crespi and translated his program into English for the Co. Mr. Villani is also a musician and has dramatized many plays for his community. Member of Order Sons of Italy in America since 1928, was trustee for a year and financial secretary for 13 years, in which time he introduced improved methods of keeping books approved by the Grand Lodge. Has served as asst. venerable and venerable since 1945. Married Giovannina De Cesaro of Milford, May 3, 1925. Children: John Anthony, graduate Milford High and attended Worcester Tech., is a musician, now in U. S. Army; Frank; Mary Joan, and Anthony, Jr., are students. Mr. Villani is active in civic and political affairs. Has travelled in Germany and Italy. Res .: 45 Summer St., Milford.
