CAMILLI, GUGLIELMO-Research Engineer G. E. of Pittsfield, Mass. Born Castelmadama, Rome, Italy, Aug. 1, 1898. Son of Dr. Giovanni Camilli and Luigia Santolamazza. Graduated: Instituto Industriale of Fermo and Politicmico of Turin, doctor in Electrical Engineering. Lt. in Italian Army World War I. Was with Fiat Metallurgic dept. for two years. In U. S. since 1924. Joined General Electric at Schenectady, later trans- ferred to Pittsfield, where he is in charge of development of high voltage instrument transformers. In 1938 he directed the construction of 50 in- strumnt transformers for 287,000 volts for Boulder Dam. Has built an astronomical observatory of his own at Coltsville, Mass., equipped with several telescopes including a 12 inch one. Awarded twice the Coffin foundation award. Has taken over 30 patents mostly dealing with trans- formers. Contributor to numerous reviews and magazines. Married Jean Moody of Schnectady, N. Y., Sept. 24, 1925. Children: Annita, a student of Mt. Holyoke College, and Elena. CAMPANA, JOSEPH (JOE)-Born Boston, Oct. 26, 1888. Son of John Campana and Angelina Pasquale. While employed at Boston Herald Traveler, he organized the Herald Traveler Employees Credit Union, the first in Newspaper industry in America. Later became field secretary of Credit Union National Extension Bureau. Mr. Campana has organized more credit unions than any other person in the country. In 1921 founded the Social Service Credit Union and has since been its treasurer and manager. Also treasurer and manager of the Industrial Credit Union, second oldest in the state. Past pres. of Credit Union League of Mass., and director since 1921. Lecturer at Simmons College School of Social Service, at M. I. T. and Boston University. CANGIANO, ALPHONSE - Attorney-at-Law. Born Calitri, Avellino, Italy, May 11, 1884. Son of Marcantonio Cangiano and Carolina De Musis. Came to America in 1891 settling in Boston. Graduated: Burdett College; Ballon and Hobigrand Preparatory School; Boston University School of Law, 1908, L. L. B. In general practice in Boston since 1908. Attorney for Mass. Bureau of Immigration, 1918-20; assistant counsel for Home Owners Loan Corp., 1933-39, and Office Price Adm'n. since 1942. Member, Ameri- can Bar Assn. Father, a native of Sant'Angelo All'Esca, Italy, came to America in 1891. Was among the first Italian-American physicians to practice in Boston. Had two children: Alphonse, of this sketch, and Rev. Victor Cangiano, assistant pastor, St. Anthony's Parish of New Haven, Conn. Mr. Cangiano's grandfather, Michele, was formerly mayor of Sant'- Angelo Al'Esca. Holt of North Carolina, April 1, 1937, a former physical education director of Hingham schools. Children: Brenda Flora and Leon Mark. Member: Insurance Broker's Association; Italian Chamber of Commerce; Alpha Kappa Psi; Boston City Club. CANIGLIA, PASQUALE-Executive chef, Hotel Commander, Cambridge. Born Villa Santa Maria, Chieti, Italy, April 10, 1898. Son of Falco Caniglia and Annina Sabatina. Educated in the pubilc schools of his native town. Served in the Italian Army during World War I, and was personal chef to General Pecora Gerardi, commander of the 1st Army. Learned the art of cooking in Naples, where he was in the service of Hotel Vesuvio, the Continental and the Savoy. Came to America in 1921 settling in Boston. Chef at the Commander since 1943. Formerly with Buckminster and Chamber of Commerce restaurants. Married Esther Di Petris of Somer- ville, March 14, 1927. One son, Falco Sabatino, born Nov. 16, 1928. Fond of all sports and lover of music. Res .: 204 Cedar St., Somerville.


CANNAROZZO, JOSEPH-Propiretor, Malden Baking Co., 229 Highland Ave., Malden. Born Enna, Sicily, Italy, March 6, 1895. Son of Joseph Cannarozzo and Grazia Mancuso. Educated in the public schools of his native town, where he also learned the art of baking. Came to America in 1911 settling in Boston, later in Malden. In the baking business since 1912. Married Mary Giuffre of Boston, Feb. 7, 1915. Children: Joseph, a graduate of Malden High School and of Weltman Conservatory of Music, is a violinist, also attended Bently School of Accounting and Finance; connected with his father in business; Carmelo, a graduate of Malden High School, was member of varsity hockey team, now in U. S. Navy QM School; Grace Rosalie, honor student at Malden Beeve Jr. High School. Mr. Cannarozzo is a lover of art and grand opera, and travelled in Italy
