Graduated from Tech- nical Institute of Agrigento. In America since 1922. Married Silvia Maffei (sister of Mons. Rev. Gioacchino Maffei of Worcester) April 30, 1925. One daughter, Gerlanda Mirian, student of Trinity College, Washington, D. C. Mr. Chiacchio entered business in 1935, among the youngest and most successful Italian Americans in the fishing industry at the Boston Fish Pier. Originator of the famous "Genoa" brand fillet, fresh or frosted, widely distributed throughout the United States. Elected during World War II local coordinator by U. S. Government in the fishing industry and is often consulted by authorities in the fishing field. On board directors of Mass. Fisheries Assoc. since 1938. CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS CLUB of Winchester. Founded in 1939. Charter members were: Antonio Gironda, Antonio Buzzotta, J. B. Cris- taldi, Gaspare Russo, S. DeTeso, S. Lentine, F. Giacolone, J. Maraschio, F. Serratore, Giuseppe Maggio and F. Cirurso. Their newly built building is free of debt and conveniently located in the center of the Italian com- munity. Their meeting hall seating is 400 also used for reunions, banquets; . dancing, popular meetings and social functions. The Christopher Colum- bus Society, founded Aug. 2, 1923, also meets here. The Club aims to en- courage good citizenship, good fellowship, clean sports for young and old, and educational programs. CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS MUTUAL BENEFIT ASSOCIATION INC., 11 Fountain St., Framingham. Was founded Dec. 27, 1908. Incorporated Oct. 14, 1909. Oldest Italian fraternal society in Framingham. The Society was started in 1908. Present officers are: William Merusi, President; Joseph Resteghini, Secretary, and Gesolmino Cavagni, Treasurer. The present membership (1945) is 450 of which 125 are in U. S. Forces. The chief aim of the Association is to promote good fellowship, unity, Ameri- can citizenship and clean sports. It also pays sickness and death benefits.


CHRISTOPHER, EUNICE-Born Wellesley, Mass., Dec. 6, 1900. Daugh- ter of Vincent Christopher and Erminia Budri. Educated in Wellesley Public schools and at Bay Path Institute of Springfield. In the service of Springfield Safe Deposit and Trust Co., since 1920, being the pioneer American of Italian descent employed in the banking field in Springfield. Charter member of Italian Women's Club and member of Springfield Symphony. Senior hostess at USO and fond of travelling, reading, art and grand opera. Her father was born in province of Ferrara, Italy. Came to America in 1894 settling in Boston where he was married. Had follow- ing children: Mrs. Zinaida Cassani; Mrs. Mary Serra; Eunice; Mrs. Geneva Mastroiani and Mrs. Gladys Zeo. Res .: 25 Oswego St., Springfield.


CHRISTOPHER, JOHN-Chief Field Deputy, State Internal Revenue. Born Boston, Oct. 25, 1893. Son of John Christoforo and Pasqualina Costanza. Graduated from Revere High School in 1913 and from North- eastern University Law School in 1925, L. L. B. Married Lucy Meli of Revere, Oct. 25, 1923. Children: John (Holy Cross College) Officer in U. S. Navy; William and Florence. Veteran U. S. Army World War I. Awarded the Silver Star, third highest military decoration for gallantry in action. With the Treasury Dept. since 1919. Chief of Metropolitan Division 1921-1932. Chief of State Division since 1933. Member: Past commander, Revere Post American Legion; B. P.O.E .; V.F. W .; Eagles; Sons of Italy; Revere-Chelsea Bar Assn. Died in 1944. His father was born in Lapio, Avellino, Italy, came to America in the late 70's. Among pioneer Italo-American settlers of Boston. CHURCH, DOMENICK-Lieutenant, Revere Police Dept. Born Boston, Nov. 30, 1882. Son of Luca Church and Mary Grace Frangillo. Educated in the Boston Public schools. Was in the service of N. E. Confectionery Co. of Boston for 22 years. Joined the Revere Police Dept., as special police in 1903, being the first American of Italian descent in Revere to enter that field. Was appointed regular police in 1915, promoted Sergeant in 1918 and Lieutenant since 1934. Married Emilia Famiglietti in 1900. Children: Luke and Grace. Married second time in 1924 to Mary B. O'Brien of Boston. One daughter, Frances M. Mr. Church is member of Mass. Police Ass'n. Fond of fishing, boxing and hockey. His father was born in Pratola, Avellino, Italy. Mother was born in Taurasi, Avellino. They came to America in 1880, settling in Boston, in the candy making business for over 30 years. Res .: 28 Park Ave., Revere.


CIABURRI, JOSEPHINE ELLENA-Public School Teacher. Born Pitts- field, April 8, 1905. Daughter of Joseph Ciaburri and Theresa Massaro. Graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1923, and from Conn. Fraoeble Normal School in 1925. Teacher in the public schools since 1925. Pioneer Italian American kindergarten school teacher of Pittsfield. Has taken special courses at Yale University. Was in charge of opening of the first kindergarten at the Hibbard school, and at Reid school. Organist at Mt. Carmel church for 18 years. Founder and director of St. Anthony's choir. Has taught piano for number of years. Member of Pittsfield and Berkshire County Teachers Associations. Fond of gardening, travel, art, reading and music. Her father was born at Faicchio, Benevento, Italy. Came to
