TROCCOLI, FEDERICO-Instructor, Violinist and Compositor. Born Lauropoli, Cosenza, Italy, Dec. 23, 1888. Son of Francesco Troccoli and Filomena Ferrara. Came to U. S. in 1895 settling in Boston. Studied here and abroad. Pupil of Henry Schraddieck in violin; Filix Winternitz of N. E. Conservatory of Music and P. Fiumara of the Boston Symphony. Composition under W. L. Thayer. Mr. Troccoli is teacher of the violin since 1906. Has travelled extensively throughout U. S. and Canada as soloist and with a Grand Opera Co. Considered among the finest violinists and compositors in the Bay State. Author of over 40 compositions for orches- tras, voice and piano, including his Leggenda, played at Esplanade in 1942, before an audience of 15,000. Other outstanding works are: his Venus and Symphonic Poem, for large orchestras; Serenade; Moto Perpetuo; Amor Vano; also a song, Vicenda D'Amore, sung by Licia Albanese, the dramatic soprano at the Metropolitan Opera Co. of New York in 1946, also sung by Anna Paul of New York.
