Born Palermo, Italy 1865, was editor and publisher of Il Messaggiero di Pa- lermo in Italy. Came to America in 1901, settled in Boston, where for many years published Il Cronista, a weekly paper and conducted the jewelry business. Died in 1942. Business has since been carried on by his son James, also born in Palermo, July 4, 1888. Came to U. S. with his parents, studied the language and became leader in many Italo- American activities in Mass. Was chairman of the Liberty Loan drive World War I in Boston, chairman of the Red Cross drive in Revere, was on the Governor's staff during the reception in Boston to General Ar- mando Diaz. Host to General Pietro Badoglio and Col. Siciliani in 1922, during their visit to Boston. Is highly mentioned in a book published in Rome in 1922 by Col. Education: Brookline High; Bowdoin College; Northeastern University; Tufts College; Boston University; North Pacific Dental College, 1944, D.M.D. Interne at For- sythe Dental Infirmary. Associated with his father in general practice of Dentistry in Boston. Married Kay Gilmore of Portland, Ore., April 29, 1943, a former home economist. Dr. Pollina is member of various organizations. Fond of baseball, football, travel. His father a native of Baucina, Palermo, Italy. Came to U. S. in 1895, is among the pioneer Italian American dentists of Boston. (See father's sketch). Former director Hull St. Medical Mission Dental Dept. Organizer and president of Hesperia Social Club; and organizer and president of New England Italian American Dental Society.
