Came to America in 1906 settling in Brooklyn, N. Y. Studied at Bloomfield College. Gradu- ated from Colgate University Divinity School in 1918. Ordained at the Reformed Church of America at Hackensack, N. J. in 1918. Served as pastor in the Italian Reform Church in Hackensack, N. J .; Italian Church of Engle- wood, N. J .; Five points Italian Mission of New York City; Eighth Ave. Methodist Church Italian Mission; and First Methodist Italian Church of Lynn, Mass. Member: Order Sons of Italy. Active in civic affairs. Married Anna Lazio of New York, Nov. 29, 1925, former public school teacher in Italy and graduate of American International College of Springfield. IOSSA, JOSEPH-Bandmaster and Teacher of Wind Instruments. Born Marigliano, Naples, Italy, Sept. 19, 1867. Son of Pasquale Iossa and Speranza Venturino. Studied music in Italy. Came to America in 1896 settling in Boston, where he has since been teaching music. In 1918 he organized the Iossa Band of Beverly, Mass. and also St. Joseph's Band of Wakefield. Maestro Iossa is among the pioneer Italo American musicians of Boston. Has written over .300 pieces of music including three sym- phonies, and has published many popular songs. Has won praise here and abroad. Married Assunta Bosco of Nusco, Avellino, Sept. 30, 1894. Chil- dren: Elvira and Theodore, a musician. Mr. Iossa has traveled in Italy three times. Education: American International College of Springfield; Royal Conservatory of Music, San Pietro a Maiello, Naples, Italy, 1909-14. Made her debut in Municipal Theater of Caserta (La Traviata). Returned to U. S., 1915, and joined American Opera Co. travelling to Cuba and Mexico for two years. Ac- tivities: with Bel Canto Opera of Boston, presented "Pagliacci" in 1940, "Traviata" in 1943, "Rigoletto" in 1944; opera chairman for Federation of Music Clubs of Mass. She won prizes, singing Italian folk songs in Inter- national pageants. Produced "Cavalleria Rusticana" in Esplanade Shell and Fenway Theater before large audiences. In the barber business since 1918, proprietor of his own shop at 19 Maverick Sq., East Boston. Married Concettina Degl'Augelli of Lynn, March 14, 1913. Two sons: Joseph and Agostino, graduates of Lynn Classical High School, both outstanding professional musicians playing in New York with George Hall Orchestras. At- tended Felix Exeter Academy in New Hampshire and graduated from Col- lege of the Holy Cross in 1937, B.S. in physics. In the service of Worcester County Electric Co. since 1937. Married Louise Genedella of Milford, Sept. 25, 1937, graduate of Milford High and of La Salle Junior College. ' Chil- dren: Rexford Philip and Andrea Louis. Former member of his college varsity football team. Fond of all sports, travel and music. His father was born in Cambridge. Had the following children: Raymond, Russell, Rexford, Frederick, George, Ethel and Edna. His grandfather was a native of the province of Brescia, Italy. One daughter, Marion Anna, graduate North High School and Salter Secretarial School. Mr. Kirby is member of Washington Social Club; Froshinn Club; Fourth degree K. C., Watchusetts Country Club and Rotary Club. His father was born in Diecimo, Lucca, Italy. Came to U. S. in 1873. Was among the pioneer Italian American settlers of Worcester. Worked for Boston Albany R. R. for 53 years. Was one of the founders of Mt. Carmel Church and Christopher Columbus Society. Had four children: Harry J., Philip C., Mary A., and Joseph J.
