CENTAMORE, CROCE-Musician. Born South Boston, April 20, 1918. Son of Mario Centamore and Agrippina Sinatra. Educated: English High School; Centamore School of Music; and New England Conservatory of Music. Began to study music when six years old, later played violin in hotels, schools and orchestras throughout the U. S., and in stations WBZ, WNAC, WHDH, etc. Since 1935 has been playing the bass in which he is considered outstanding. Married Jenny Tarquini of Boston, Aug. 31, 1940. Children: Patricia Inez, born Jan. 29, 1942 and Marie, born May 29, 1944. Mr. Centamore is member, Boston Musicians Association and A. F. & A. M. of Boston. CERBONESCHI, AMILCARE-Professor of Piano and Voice, Opera Con- ductor, Band Leader and Musician. Born Florence, Italy. Oct. 27, 1878. Son of Oliver Cerboneschi (a school master) and Ermelina Giorgerini (high school teacher). Graduated from Royal Conservatory of Music in Florence, Italy, in 1900. Was awarded gold medal and honorary diploma for excellency in composition. Was brought to America in 1903 settling in Springfield. Married to Carmela Ancona. One son, Oliver. Prof. Cer- boneschi has been teacher of music in Springfield since 1904. Accom- panied Tito Ruffo while in Springfield, as well as Zonatello and Madame Gay. Intimate with Al Jolson, Louisa Tetrazzini, the late Victor Herbert, (played for years his light operas in Springfield Theatre), and with Albert Bimboni, the famous musician, teacher and coach of Juliard Conservatory of New York. Founder and director of Springfield Opera Co. Leader and organizer of numerous bands. His successive yearly presentation of leading operas in Springfield for the past 15 years places him among the leaders in the music field in New England. Was among the founders of Buona- ventura's Club and its treasurer since 1935. Also member of the Eagles and Order Sons of Italy. Active in civic affairs and in the welfare of his people. Had the following children: Mary Barbara; Ralph, is in the service of the Victory Plastic Co., married to Mary McNally; the late Louis, a graduate of Hudson High and Dean Academy, was an outstanding ath- lete; late Domenic; and Francis, a graduate of Hudson High and member of the varsity baseball, football and hockey teams, is married to Frances Lyons, now in U. In the service of Lucerne Hotel since 1917. Formerly with Touraine, Somerset, Hollis and Winterplace Hotels. Fond of outdoor life, a lover of music and travelling. Married Amelia Dall'Olio, Nov. 6, 1911. One daughter, Elena (Benotti), a graduate of Radcliffe College, now State Social Worker, Division of the Blind. Res .: 24 Magus Ave., Wellesley Hills.


CHAMP, ANTHONY M. (Major)-Physician and Surgeon. Born San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Benevento, Italy, Dec. 16, 1894. Son of Salvatore Champ and Lucia Braca. Graduated from Brockton High; Harvard Col- lege; and Harvard Medical School (1921, M. D.). Interne at Brockton City Hospital. In general practice since 1922. Treasurer Mass. Medical Society; President Order Sons of Italy, Brockton Teacher's Assoc., and Italian Scholarship Club. Before entering active service, he was for 16 years in the army reserve. Made Major April 6, 1940, in the Medical Corps Reserve. In actual service in U. S. Army since Jan. 21, 1941. Was the first physician to leave Brockton and the first Italian physician to become Major. S. in 1902 settling in Boston. In business since 1930. Formerly foreman at G. W. Bent Co., and at Jordan Marsh. During his visit in Italy, he married Marion Ciriello of Montemiletto, on May 9, 1912. Children: Mary, married to Robert Lowry, warrant officer, U. S. Navy; Mafalda, graduate nurse, is Lt. in U. S. Army overseas, married to Lt. Charles S. Allen of U. S. Army; Carolina, married to M. H. Shepherd, CRM, U. S. Navy; Frederick, is Lieutenant in U. S. Merchant Marine, married to Rose Beadaux; and Gloria Rita, a student. All of the children are graduates of Medford High School. Mr. Champa is member Order Sons of Italy. Active in civic affairs. Fond of travel and grand opera.
