Son of Carlo Culla (a public school teacher in Italy for 59 years; Knight of San Manrizio and Lazzaro) and Giuseppina Farnelli. Educated in the high schools in Italy. Came to America in 1903. In Springfield since 1923, where he has been agent for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for 20 years. Has devoted his spare time, since 1924 to the Columbian Federation of Italian American Societies in which organization he has, since 1924, organized lodges in Wisconsin, Ohio, Penn., New York. In Mass. he organized the Matteotti Lodge at Winchendon. In Springfield he organized the lodge, Figli del Lavoro and has been its grand president for 16 years and president for eight years. Has also organized women's lodges of said order in Springfield and West Springfield. Has held the office as organizer since 1925 and first National Vice President since 1935. Active in civic affairs. Son of Gioacchino D'Ambrosio and Maria Assunta Clavelli. Came to U. S. in 1907 settling in East Boston, where he was educated in the public schools. Served in U. S. Navy 1918-1945. Vet- eran of World War I and World War II. In World War II he has been highly commended by his officers for his courage, efficiency, and leadership in the Normandy invasion. Also took part in the African invasion. In business since 1945. Member V. F. W. Fond of baseball, boxing, travel and music. His father came to U. S. in 1880 settling in Boston. He served in the American-Spanish War, later served in the Italian Army. Was a prominent restauranteur in East Boston for many years. Graduated from Boston Latin Public School in 1918; Harvard University in 1922, A.B. Teacher at Latin Public School since 1928, being the pioneer Italian-American teacher in that school.
