Served in the Italian Army during World War I. Was awarded croix de guerre for bravery. Came to Amer- ica in 1920, settling in Boston. Partner in the Caradonna Packing Co. since 1933. Married Santa Giuffre of Calvaruso, Italy, June 4, 1924. Children: Patsy and Joseph. Fond of baseball, football, hunting travel- ling and grand opera. Hobby-playing the banjo. MERLONI, LOUIS JOHN-Businessman and former Boxing Champion. Born Framingham, April 27, 1910. Son of Luigi Merloni and Maria Buc- chi. Educated in the public schools. Proprietor of Merloni Restaurant of 298 Waverly St., Framingham since 1941. Also chauffeur for U. S. Engineers North Atlantic Division. Formerly a professional amateur boxer. Was New England middleweight champion boxer in 1929 and light heavy weight champion boxer in 1930. Married Catherine Datti, June 21, 1936, a graduate of Framingham High School. Children: Louis Edmund, born April 15, 1937 and Frank Ernest, born April 8, 1939. Member: Eagles; Foresters; Cristoforo Colombo Society and Local 609 Union Club. His father was born in Norcia, Perugia, Italy. Came to America in 1902, settling in Framingham. Had the following children: Peter, in U. S. Navy; Bennie; Louis J .; James; Alfredo, in U. S. MERLUZZI, GINO UMBERTO-Director Italian Radio Program Pastene Co., Boston. Born Pesaro, Marche, Italy, Nov. 9, 1904. Son of Carlo Merluzzi and Ida Bartoli. Education: Regio Ginnasio T. Mamiani di Pesaro; Regio Liceo Classico Conti Gentili di Alatri; Regia Universita Commerciale di Trieste. Came to U. S. in 1932, settling in Boston, where he has since been engaged in the radio field. In the service of Pastene Co., since 1940. Also teacher of Italian at Berlitz School for six years. President and founder of Italian Literary Club of Boston and a noted lecturer. Member: Mass. Association of Teachers of Italian; Order Sons of Italy; Italian Historical Society; and U. S. Coast Guard Reserve. Active in civic affairs. His father was born in Alatri, Frosinone, Italy. Came to U. S. in 1930, settling in Boston as chain store manager.
