CUCCHIARA, PAUL-Owner, Cucchiara Confectionery and Ice Cream parlor, 94 Daniel St., Fitchburg. Born Salemi, Trapani, Italy, April 13, 1884. Son of Alberto Cucchiara and Caterina Cusumana. Educated in the public school of his native town. Came to America in 1906. Lived in Boston and Providence, R. I. In business in Fitchburg since 1916, one of the first Italian American to enter the confectionery field in Fitchburg. Married Antonina Sala of Fitchburg, April 14, 1913. Children: Catherine, married to Joseph Veneziano; Albert, graduate of Fitchburg High, in U. S. Army overseas, purple heart; Mamie, defense worker; Josephine, married to Donald Helow; Joseph, a guard; Peter, associated in business with his father; Mary, graduate of Fitchburg High and Lena, Vito, Samuel and Margaret, students. Member: Order Sons of Italy; Carl Alberto Society and Salemitani Society. Has three brothers, Joseph, Frank, Baldassare and one sister, Margherita. Res .: 40 Madison St., Fitchburg.
CUCCHIELLA, EMILIO-Businessman. Born Preturo, Aquila, Italy, June 1, 1879. Son of Francesco Cucchiella and Maria Franceschi. Educated in the public schools of his native town. Was for five years a "carabiniere reale (royal guard). Married Chiarina Trentadue of Modugno, Bari, Italy. One daughter, Isabella, married to Pietro Cicchetti of Boston. Mr. Cucchiella came to U. S. in 1904 settling in Boston, as a bookkeeper for 15 years, later as a representative of the Singer Sewing Machine Co. Since 1941 has been in the poolroom business. Fond of baseball, basketball, fishing and travel. His father born in San Donato, Val di Comino, Frosinone, Italy, came to America in 1906 settling in Worcester, later in Milford, where he engaged as stone cutter. Had the following children: Adele, graduate of Milford High, married to James Gibson; Raymond; Frank G., and Albert, in U. S. Army overseas. Stepchildren: James (Nargi) is in U. S. Army; late Lt. Louis Nargi killed in action in Germany Jan. 11, 1944; Edward, in U. S. Army; and Lena. All are graduates of Milford High School. Res .: 273 Main St., Milford.
